Hi,

Well, this is a Lancia Delta related problem, but maybe you guys can help me...

The speedo and tacho on my 96 delta 1.4 don't return to 0; the tacho stops at 500rpm and speedo stops at 20Km/h, with the ignition on or off...

Is this a common problem/anyone has a solution?

TIA,

Gustavo Melo

I suspect that all you need to do is take the speedo unit out take the plastic panel off the front and push the needles to 0rpm and 0kmh. What does the rpm dial say when the car is at idle?

Well, it sits around 1.000 at idle, but it does seems to be running a little high. (It sometimes accelerates to around 3.000 at idle until I press the accelerator a couple of times or start running)

Any idea how to take the instruments out?

Having only worked on the older Delta I cant help you, just have a play around and see if you have any screws or anything to take out.....

Has the needles ever returned to 0? Many cars only start registering speed and RPM at 10mph/500rpm.

I'll ask the gf's dad cause he had one of them, was earlier than 1996 though.

Not in my hands... but only got it last December, so I really don't know.

Thanks for the help!

I feel so stupid...

...well today I took a closer look to the needles and... voilá... they are supposed to stop there... I really feel stupid...

Thank you anyway to those who responded.
