Hello everyone,

I have a broken camshaft from a Fiat Scudo 1.9 TD 1905cc; one of the camshat supports, the camshaft and one of the exhaust valves are broken. I have to do an analysis on the cause of failure for my machine design class. In order to do that, i need to know the valve spring´s stiffness to determine the forces involved... Any suggestions?

Measure it?

I'd be thinking the forces of the spring were not part of the problem.

I'd be looking at the length and straightness of the valve, and impact damage to the cam.
