Hi -

Have a 1979 Fiat 2000 restored and now it doesn't start when hot. :(
It is carbuerated and has marelli dual points. Any ideas what it might be. Spark seems good. Wondering if it might be a clogged or semi clogged catalytic converter.

Thanx

Yep it really has dual points. I am not sure either why anybody would change it. The car came with my significant other that has owned the car for 15 years. It has been that way since she bought it. ;)

Wow maybe they were left over parts from the 78 year run and her very early 79 got em!

Since the points were controled by temperature maybe this link might help if yours are OEM equipment. I know you said it had spark, but maybe the set of points for hot euning is not adusted correctly. Any how it can't hurt and I don't know what else to suggest.

I think they have the linking feature turned off so you'll have to copy and paste the address.

Are you sure the car has catalytic converter? It is most common on injection engines.

Anyway, try to change the distributor and also check if there is a vacuum advance unit there - it may be faulty.

Morten.
