I have a Y reg. Fiat Punto and have recently discovered that I have a leak!!
In the footwell behind the drivers seat water is sloshing about.

One garage told me the water was coming in through the petrol cap flap and suggested I take it to someone who can do body work to get it sealed up. However, I have spoken to 2 places who both thought that water was unlikely to come in from there (the boot is completely dry) and one of them thought it may be coming in through the door panel - however they would not touch it and gave the impression that no-one would want to do anything where a leak was concerned.

Any ideas on what might be causing it and how I can get it sorted? :bang:

hi welcome to the forum, water leaks can be very hard to find, have you checked the door seal for cracks and if its a 3 door the opening rear windows as these often leak if used alot, an easy way to fix this is remove the window clean the seal and refit window, also try posting this in the punto section

Take it to Fiat dealer to get sorted,never heard of leak through petrol cap...what bo**ox!

Despite water being behind drivers seat I would suspect either leaking from door (modified membrane available £6 odd) or possibly from tailgate seam.I'd stick a new membrane on first,cheapest/easiest & most common option.
