Hello all! I acquired a 1978 124 a few days ago. Overall, the car is in very good shape. So far, I've found no rust on this CA. car. It has a strong engine and smooth shifting transmission. It does run rough at low rpm and I suspect there is a vacuum leak or 2. The interior needs to be completely redone and there is body damage at the left tail light. It came with loads of spare parts( bumpers, carburetor, starter, marker lights, convertible hardware, badges, etc. etc.).

Anyways, I look forward to picking your collective brains throughout the project.

I have been busy checking items off of my Resto-To-Do-List. Turns out the idle jet had worked itself loose and fell out. Once I sorted that out, she purrs like a kitten at all rpm. I was relieved when it passed smog on the first attempt. I've completely gutted the interior sans the dash. I'm now in the process of taking the pan down to paint/metal and prepping for new sound deadening mat, jute and carpet. Still no real rust to be concerned with. Meanwhile, replacement parts continue to arrive. I'm replacing the rear seat with Mark Allison's package shelf set-up. photos to follow.
