Hi,
Firstly thank you for letting me onto you site :).
I have a 57 plate diesel multipla that i have had for 12 months (great car).
But recently i drove to clarach bay in wales just outside of newtown going up the mountain on the aberystwyth rd the buzzer sounded overheating so i pulled over and lifted the bonnet and no steam gushing out etc so i turned on the ignition and 3-4 mins it cooled itself via the fans i then continued to drive and 15 more miles the temp went up so pulled over again eventual got to our site in clarach bay, next day called green flag who came and took my car for an hour as was only opposite my site. when they came back they told me that the thermostat had come out of the holder?. they said they had taken it out and that i could drive it home (bloody freezing it was lol) on my way home i no noticed it was still showing hot ? so i carried on as it never got to the danger level or the buzzer never sounded, when i got home i took it to the garage and had a new thermostat and housing fitted? still the same. they thought it might be the switch ? so had that changed and still the same, when i bought the car less than 12 months ago i was told and given a receipt to say that the timing belt and water pump had been fitted prior to me getting the car for £180 ?
What do you think guys ? could you recommend a local garage to dy5 dudley area please

Is the car losing/using any coolant?
I would want to know if the car is actually getting that hot or is it a faulty sender?

You say it was showing hot on the way home but you were cold. Was the heater not working? If not maybe you have lost coolant.

I'm sure someone with more knowledge of the car will be along soon.
 
Hi,
Not loosing any coolant when the engine is just starting to get hot the blowers are blowing warm and every time the engine reads hot the blowers blow colder? don't ask lol
 
Could they have done it wrongly? there are 2 pipes going in from the back of the housing to the heater matrix and a couple of bigger ones as well and another 5 in total. thanks i will check if i can find a picture etc
 
could someone please take a couple of pictures of the pipes from either side of the thermostat housing so i can check them against mine.

When you rev the the car is there any water whooping noises?
Did the garage bleed the cooling system correctly?

Sounds like an air lock / Bleed issue.
Or... the water pump impeller has sheared off or is breaking up.
 
Think you are right about the pump as it happened going up the mountain in Wales and since then everything I do gives me the same symptoms. Thanks again
