I just posted a query in the Fiat forum but now see it is supposed to be for non specific model enquiries ... I have bought a Fiat 500 lounge registered October 2012 which needs floor mats. I'm not sure whether I should buy single or double pin fixing mats because I can't see the fixing pins location in my car. Any help very gratefully received!

Hi and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

Your in the right place now, I've tagged your thread to the 500 section so the guys in there will more than likely be able to answer your question!

I have also removed your other thread, so don't worry about that (y)

thank you:) I will go and try and find the 500 section ... do I need a torch?

Going from memory, there should be 2 obvious plastic things quite near the seat. Those would be your pin positions.

If you look on e-bay, most companies on there seem to make to measure. Quality seems good and prices low. And if they have your reg no. or exact model, the mats will come complete with the fixings etc in the right place.

If you can't see any plastic bits, then maybe a previous owner has fitted a generic mat which is covering the original.

A couple of years since I did this job, so if I've screwed up somewhere, other members will let me know.

Some may even do it nicely.....

Just spoken to the dealer who say prior to 2013 the model doesn't have fixing points. He advised just buy tailored mats and they won't slip. I did enquire about using the fixings supplied with the mats by pushing through the carpet into the floor but the bloke was horrified by the idea, saying it would damage the carpet. Not sure, which is worse, potential accident due to mat slippage or tiny hole in carpet where screw went in.

i have fiat 500 official mats that came with the screw but since it was a 2010 model nowhere to put it in place. The matts do not slip at all as they fit perfectly so i would just go and buy those.

Thank you ahmett. I have ordered a set of tailored mats, hopefully all will be fine.

My previous car was a Mazda MX5 and I had a scary moment when a mat slipped, which is why I was concerned.
