My puntos just had it's beloved m.o.t and failed on a number of things

Wipers
Headlights too low
C.V boot
And
Emissions

Any tips on how to get the emissions right??

Thanks

I didn't bring it home as the cars booked in tomorrow. They suggested a service and cleaning of the lambda sensor. Want £150 so I've been thinking all day I'm sure I can do it cheaper

Air filter (replace), plugs and leads (replace), make sure the damn thing is up to temperature before you take it in (cane the ******** off it, let the cooling fan cycle at least twice before taking it in, etc.). Lambda issue should be putting the eml light on.

Next time, get the slip, give yourself more time. :bang:

Wipers is £20 max to fix

Headlights too low - ensure your set to 0 on adjustment on the dash, checking then they move fully up and down
Then adjust @ 0 to correct height

CV boots - is it insecure? leaking grease? Insecure can be resecured with cable ties or a new metal clamp, both cheap £5 max

As for emissions
A service - Oil, oil filter, Plugs, HT's, Air filter and then a tank of posh petrol
Then go and give it a drive like its been stolen to get it hot and get it flushing the crap out the system

Also ensure you give them the car when the car is smoking hot, hotter it goes in, the better the emissions should be vs Cold

Took on board all advised and she passed.

From looking at everything she hadn't had a service for a long time the oil filter was rusty round the seal the air filter box was a nightmare to get open due to rusted screws and here are the state of the spark plugs

Thanks for all the advise.

Just need to replace the lambda sensor now then hopefully she'll be running smooth again
