Hi!

My name is Megan and i have recently purchased a Fiat Croma 2005 1.9 Diesel. I have only had her for about 2 months and there is a fauly with the power steering. I had the original pump repaired, then bought a new pump, replaced the 'red lead', checked for a dirty connection and nothing is working.
I am serious money into this now... absolutely LOVE the car and just want her fixed. Any help/opinions/tips would be greatly appreciated!!!
I work for an Independent Porsche Specialist so had assumed the mechanics here would have been able to help but even they are stumped!

:confused::confused::confused:

Thank you,

Megan.

Welcome Megan--- This is the head scratching forum for the Fiat Croma- you will avail yourself of its pages a lot while you have the car;).

How is the "steering probs" showing up? there is a lot of things it could be most of which , on balance, seem to be electrical and you have done the homework and tried the main ones.
Get your "Porch pals" to check the alternator output and the battery condition. I have had both give up the ghost on me and each time the first thing that went "funny" was the power steering , not always with a warning message coming upon the screen.:bang: .
At the risk of being seen as a pedant , it is always worth looking at the little things first its often less costly:)

Hi Megan, welcome aboard!

just to be clear have you checked / replaced the wiring loom?

The whole wiring loom.?!

Tell us in more detail about what the steering does/doesn't do.

Hi Meganloise
We had a good deal of drama with our power steering until I changed the lead
(red and black) that runs from the battery to the steering pump. The spade connectors at the pump end inside the plug burn out. Unless you pull this plug out and flick the blue cover off you can't be sure it's OK. there is a GM part about £20 and it has a silicone rubber cover on it.
I hope that will help.
