Hello all
I found the site having already stumbled onto the MultiplaOwnersClub site, and doing a Google search for M/pla ball joints. Anyone know a source for these as I don't want to buy complete wishbones and then have to discard their fitted bushes (which I intend to replace with Polyflex)... geddit

Hi and Welcome

From memory with mine, (old shape bug) the lower balljoint is permanently fitted to the wishbone, so you won't be able to fit Polyurethane bushes to it. From experience, my ball joint failed before the two bushes did, and yet you can buy the bushes separately?!?

I think that the ball joint is riveted to the wishbone, you might get lucky and find somewhere that makes the balljoint to fit, that you then bolt on, but I couldn't say I've seen anything like this.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

James

Thanks James
I shall persist in my search as I'm certain they must be available, whether rivetted, bolted or just pressed in.
They're not made as one piece with the w/bone.
And you're right to remark why the poly bushes are available separately, but there is a chance, I suppose, that the ball joints are fine and don't need replacing.
All the best

Hi and welcome :)

As James said, the balljoint only comes as part of the arms so you will have to buy the complete unit. The bushes however can be removed and changed for uprated ones relatively easily, as long as you manage to get the standard ones out without too much fuss these can then be passed on to someone who might need them :)

Just FYI, not a lot of folk look in here for tech questions as it's mainly for introductions so any further questions should go in the Multipla section (y)

Thanks Eklipze, understood.

+1

For about £64 (delivered) for a pair of wishbones with all bushes and balljoints, you could measure up, source your poly bushes and fit them, all with nice clean bits to work on and without taking your car off the road. Once that's sorted, switching them over onto the car should be a quick and easy job.

Famous last words....
