Hello!
Just became a proud owner of a 2005 Panda 1.2L 5-door Eleganza!
Our Panda will be take part in the 2010 Mongol Rally - a journey of 10,000 miles form London to Ulan Batar (Mongolia). The vehicle rules are relatively simple - 1.2L or less. After some research and dealing with availability, we opted for the Panda (Top Gear ranked it as number 8 on their site). Our team is called Strangely Green and we'll be updating our blog as to how our Panda (and ourselves) are doing.
Now for a couple of questions. First, we would like to install a skid plate (basically a sheet of metal that protects the underside of the engine). Any idea where we can get one in England? Second, we would like to carry some spare parts of anything known to be problematic during a long tour. Any thoughts? We'll have a Thule rack on the roof w/ basket (although we are still looking to see where we can buy one), so we should have plenty of room! We already have two full-size spare tires/rims on the list.
