Hi, am new to this so please bere with me.
I am trying to remove the ignition barrel in my multipla on 52 plate as the key is jamming and it is becoming awkward to start ignition. I am relativly useless with cars so if someone could give me a step by step guide would be most grateful.
thanks in advance.

I tryed what U R doing on a 2000 model and it mucked up the code system U need to no a lock smith or just change the whole barrel and have the keys coded hope this helps

The complete assembly is fixed to the column with 'shear-head' bolts, and will need to be drilled and removed with an 'easy-out' (stud remover) tool.
If you're lucky, you might be able to undo them with a good quality pair of 'Mole' grips.
Once it's off, you're left with the task of trying to strip it down without destroying it.
I didn't manage it, which is why mine is now a 'keyless' ignition
The key code receiver/sensor is a plastic ring around the barrel, I just removed the chip from the key and bonded it to the ring.

My advice is to just give the barrel a good dose of WD40 into the key slot, and 'exercise' it a bit, it should free up unless there is something loose inside physically jamming it.
It's worth a try before you go down a more complicated and expensive route.
