I've had my 54 plate multipla for 18 months and my family adore it.

If I have one gripe, it is the annoyingly loud bleep/s that sounds every time I lock and unlock the car. Is there any way of disabling this sound?

I wouldn't object to a subtle short bleep, but my Multipa appears to think that I'm had of hearing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd be interested in the answer to that as well. We go camping quite often and I always lock the car with the key in the door instead of the remote way - the Multipla would make a very good (and annoying) alarm call.
I seem to remember something I read way back on an Alfa forum that there was some way of changing the country settings for the alarm which included the volume, number of beeps etc, I think the engine bay alarm push-button switch was involved in some way (like pressing it a different number of times for a different setting). Time for a bit of research methinks....

I managed to locate the following text from another forum, which may help, but the question now is: Which country setting is silent?

PROGRAMMING COUNTRY CODE

COUNTRY OF OPERATION
ITALY -1 CODE (Number of key presses)
GERMANY- 2
FRANCE – 3
SW1TZERLAND - 4
UNITED KINGDOM - 5
BELGIUM - 6
HOLLAND –7
EC - 8
Low siren (TURIN) - 9

It is also possible to identify the country operating mode by means of the following procedure:
- open the bonnet lid;
- turn the ignition key from MAR to STOP:
within 15 seconds. press switch (at the front bonnet) 7 times in rapid succession in less than 10 seconds.

Entry to MANUAL FAULT DIAGNOSIS will be indicated by 5 beep. During these 5 beeps, press the front bonnet switch and hold down. A further long beep will indicate acceptance of this manoeuvre.

- hold the switch down for the entire duration of this long beep. The long beep indicates that the system is in Country programming mode and the Country code can now be entered;

release the switch and within the next 10 seconds press the switch in accordance with the table for
selecting the required country operating mode (the system will be beep to confirm each press).

Cheers, Andy

I know I've dug this thread up from ages ago but did anybody actually try this method to turn off the alarm activation bleeps?

It really is too loud sometimes and I'd love to be able to either turn it down or off!

Thanks.

Guizzo,

Nothing like a bit of lateral thinking...if there is no other way I'll try to find it but is it the 'bleeper' that also produces the alarm sound?

Be a bit pointless then?

Not to sure if I understood the above maybe it's me being a little dense.

Anyway, would like to silence my beeping alarm as well. As a nighttime cab driver, when I get home, can be around 3-5 am, I am sure I wake up the whole street when locking the car.

Anyone able to help, before my neighbours start to abuse me would be most welcome.

This worked perfectly on my 2003 Multipla! I chose Switzerland (4 presses): now there are no beeps, no flashing lights, just remote locking/unlocking.
It sounds complicated but is very quick and easy to do in practice. It may be good to rehearse the steps though, as I can see that the time limits, combined with the loud beeps as you press the button under the bonnet, could cause slight panic and disorientation!

Thanks very much for this! Peace!
Thanks Andy!

PS - The 'button' is the obvious one just inside the bonnet, above the off-side headlamp.

Yes my 52 plate Multipla accepted this absolutely fine :)

Just a little doubt where is the rear and front bonnet lid?? Above the fuse Box o just a pin in front and rear door? The front button I beliave is the alarm button in command panel above the driver head...

Apart from using the ignition key at the start of the procedure, everything listed in Dutch Andy's post is carried out using the under-bonnet button, circled in red:

hey i hope this works on a face lift multi
only u right it is bloody anoying at 3am
stupid aclock
has any one found the setting that just
flashes the indicators on locking and unlock

Go for Switzerland (code 4) - just flashes, no beeps. Even the alarm is very quiet. My multi thinks it's been in Switzerland for years and everyone's happy (y)

Just done this and set it to Turin, just Beeps once a few seconds after Locking. ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1411479317.321746.jpg

Thanks Andy works great on my 54 last of the "female" multis.
( pre flat chested "male" upgrade)
She is now Swiss too.

Hi, I'm new to this forum - I don't generally join "clubs" but have found Dutch Andy's advice very useful, thanks!
We have a 2010 1.9 Eleganza & are a little frustrated by the apparent lack of hard copy workshop manuals for this model - not exactly rare are they?
Got very conscious of the very loud beeper, particularly when parking late at night or on campsites.
The local main dealer & independent mechanic we use both said we could not get rid if this noise as it was part of the alarm system.
We found this post on the forum & have now fixed it - the indicators flash when we lock the car but no beep, great!
I tried all of the other country codes, which resulted in differing alarm noises & last of all I tried 5 (UK?) - this fixed the problem. I'm not at all impressed by the uselessness of the main dealer & will let them know that when I'm passing them. Thanks again.

Funnily enough, I've been meaning to do this for a while and this post has prompted me to get it sorted.

I can report that it has indeed just worked on my 03 JTD and I can now stop having to apologise to people for the noise when locking her ! (y)
