Grande Punto Mjet 1.9 Sporting

Introduction

Decided to create a members motors thread for my 09 plate 1.9 MJet sporting in grey. Had the car since about 9k mile i think it was and had the usual top mounts needing changing and a split turbo pipe but other than that has been quite good to me. The car has dual climate control and the lumbar package (electronic lumbar adjust on drivers seat and arm rest), but apart from that is completely standard at the minute, but would love to do the following to it;

  • Window tints, rear is already factory tinted
  • New speakers all round
  • Black interior pillars
  • Black roof lining
  • New alloys
  • Lowering springs or coilovers set to their highest because of the lovely speed bumps and pot holes around here.
  • Black or badgeless grill
  • Abarth fronts (possibly)
  • Under body and strut braces
  • Exhaust system
  • Remap
Just having its first full service, cam belt ect. after having 2 new front tyres (Khumo KU39's) and EBC Ulimax pads all round. After this hopefully people will stop using my car to stop their doors in car parks so I can spend money on it for good reasons.

Some old pictures from summer.

Some pictures from lowering and with the abarth 500 alloys on.

=================================================
Well now I've finally caught up to realising you can edit your post in here ill add my current list of bits on or swapped on the car and my to do list.
Hopefully be followed by some new pictures once I've fitted a couple more bits.

Engine

  • 1.9 MJet with remap from man in a van (no power figures until I have a proper remap done)
  • Fluoro lined silicone boost intercooler pipe(s)
Interior/ICE

  • Alpine (model to follow) head unit
  • Clarion SRV250 - 150w under seat subwoofer
  • LED interior light bulbs
  • Tailored black floor mats
Exterior

  • 17" Abarth 500 alloys
  • 4300k HID kit (6000k was too blue)
  • LED Licence plate bulbs
  • Khumo KU39 tyres fitted all round (205/45/17)
  • Mintex brake discs & pads all round
  • Eibach sportlines (40-45mm front & 30mm rear)
To do

  • De-cat pipe (Purchased)
  • Forge under body brace (Purchased)
  • Powerflex gearbox mount upgrade (Purchased)
  • Gearbox oil change (Purchased)
  • Boost gauge (Purchased)
  • Clarion SRE1712S 16.5cm (6.5") speaker upgrade (front) (Purchased)
  • Clarion SRE1321S 13cm (5.25") speaker upgrade (rear) (Purchased)
  • Badgeless grille
  • Team Heko wind deflectors
  • Grey inner/sporting headlights (When I can find somewhere that supplies both sides with S1 connectors)
  • Exhaust system
  • Intercooler
  • Short shifter kit
Yeah its cool being able to read codes and do diagnostics yourself instead of paying someone to do it. Sweet, let me know how it is when you get it in, will need to wait a little to resave what i spent last week on getting the MAF and suspension sorted but i think that'll be the next purchase. Either that or a rear silencer delete and twin tip out the rear.

Updated first post with current set up and things to do.
Does anyone know how I remove the thumbnail of my car picture head on from my first post or know which mod I need to ask to remove it?

Also if anyone is interested in the Abarth 500 alloys they may come up for sale.
They'd be sold with the custom spigots and wobble/adjustment bolts, if anyone would like to declare interest?
I have another set in mind that I fancy, I change my mind too much.

:O other Fiat based alloys or some aftermarket?

After market.

I think what I want has already been done, but I've wanted these wheels for any car I've ever wanted. Not saying which yet though in case it doesn't happen.
Mrs, would go a bit mad if I just bought them on the credit card too (n)

Can anyone confirm my tyres of 205/45/17 would be fine on 7.5J alloys?

Reuuk you got any idea of a price I'd be reasonably asking for the 500 Abarths (with the spigots and bolts of course)

205/45 will be fine on 7.5j will have a nice profile too them. I think standard for 7.5 is 215/45 though..

well everything has been done once before!

Been rather busy on the car front. Had a coolant leak and the very common (my 2nd change) squeky top mounts.
So into the garage on Thursday where it ended up being the water pump causing the coolant leak.
While it was in it had the following (not all gloomy fixes for a change);

  • water pump
  • cam belt change
  • mintex brake discs all round
  • mintex brake pads all round
  • eibach sportline lowering springs

Happy with the sportlines. They are firmer so make the handling better, doesn't seem to roll as much. The ride is only slightly harder to as it wasn't the softest in the first place. Still got my forge braces to go on to which will firm up the front even more. Also got my gear box oil and mount to change.
But in the mean time have some pictures of my car, all be it a dirty one.

Images don't seem to want to upload on my iPhone, will add them later on my laptop.

That seems like a lot of work just to display a couple of images.
Medium images were too big so these thumbnails will have to do.

Sits perfectly now for me. Not too low I have to worry but low enough to get rid of the arch gap.
Finally got a reason to smile about it again now after having the coolant leak and managing to shear a wheel bolt

Your wheels work allot more now the cars sitting properly. Looks amazing pal :)

Thanks Reu, they looked a bit too small before I think, even though there 17" like the original sportings. Trying to sort out some black abarth centre caps instead of the red and chrome that I've got. That should finish it off nicely, and a clean lol. Sick of all this salt and grit being spread :(

That looks stunning mate , keep up the good work!

Thanks :D
Ebc recommend 200 miles, probably be best to be on the safer side!

Sure I can't manage that, that's a little under 2 weeks average driving for me though. I'll just have to go round bends faster now instead of breaking, to test the eibach's haha

Hopefully give it a clean and get some better pictures soon. Wouldn't mind changing my geaebox oil, mount and getting the forge on today :)

Ordered myself a Karcher pressure washer, ebay snow foam lance and some carbon collective satsuma snow foam today.
Will be ordering some car shampoo, 2 wash buckets etc. etc. next month to hopefully have all I should need to keep the car nice and clean. :D

Wondering about some S2 Grey headlights instead of the black abarths.
Not sure they suit them though, think they'd look great if they were a little lighter?
What do people think?
Cant post an image, why doesn't the forum allow links to external images?

Reuuk. Do you know or could you find out if your centre caps have these rings inside them to help the stay on tight?
They fit fine without but come out a little too easily I think. However with them in I can't get them out!!

Sorry for my input mate , if it's just reeuk you asked but , if you squeeze that ring in behind the lugs it'll pull them back out so it will help it to stay on , but it should stay on with out them

No could be anyone to answer. I just know he has them too.
The prices for these little bits of plastic is a joke. I don't wanna fork out £60+ for 4 plastic covers that I can't get off or that may fly off haha.
Will have my wheel off again at weekend when it gets a clean and see if I can get them off without scratching or breaking anything.
SJB1985 you mind me asking how much you paid to have yours colour coded?
