Grande Punto Mjet 1.9 Sporting

Introduction

Decided to create a members motors thread for my 09 plate 1.9 MJet sporting in grey. Had the car since about 9k mile i think it was and had the usual top mounts needing changing and a split turbo pipe but other than that has been quite good to me. The car has dual climate control and the lumbar package (electronic lumbar adjust on drivers seat and arm rest), but apart from that is completely standard at the minute, but would love to do the following to it;

  • Window tints, rear is already factory tinted
  • New speakers all round
  • Black interior pillars
  • Black roof lining
  • New alloys
  • Lowering springs or coilovers set to their highest because of the lovely speed bumps and pot holes around here.
  • Black or badgeless grill
  • Abarth fronts (possibly)
  • Under body and strut braces
  • Exhaust system
  • Remap
Just having its first full service, cam belt ect. after having 2 new front tyres (Khumo KU39's) and EBC Ulimax pads all round. After this hopefully people will stop using my car to stop their doors in car parks so I can spend money on it for good reasons.

Some old pictures from summer.

Some pictures from lowering and with the abarth 500 alloys on.

=================================================
Well now I've finally caught up to realising you can edit your post in here ill add my current list of bits on or swapped on the car and my to do list.
Hopefully be followed by some new pictures once I've fitted a couple more bits.

Engine

  • 1.9 MJet with remap from man in a van (no power figures until I have a proper remap done)
  • Fluoro lined silicone boost intercooler pipe(s)
Interior/ICE

  • Alpine (model to follow) head unit
  • Clarion SRV250 - 150w under seat subwoofer
  • LED interior light bulbs
  • Tailored black floor mats
Exterior

  • 17" Abarth 500 alloys
  • 4300k HID kit (6000k was too blue)
  • LED Licence plate bulbs
  • Khumo KU39 tyres fitted all round (205/45/17)
  • Mintex brake discs & pads all round
  • Eibach sportlines (40-45mm front & 30mm rear)
To do

  • De-cat pipe (Purchased)
  • Forge under body brace (Purchased)
  • Powerflex gearbox mount upgrade (Purchased)
  • Gearbox oil change (Purchased)
  • Boost gauge (Purchased)
  • Clarion SRE1712S 16.5cm (6.5") speaker upgrade (front) (Purchased)
  • Clarion SRE1321S 13cm (5.25") speaker upgrade (rear) (Purchased)
  • Badgeless grille
  • Team Heko wind deflectors
  • Grey inner/sporting headlights (When I can find somewhere that supplies both sides with S1 connectors)
  • Exhaust system
  • Intercooler
  • Short shifter kit
Test fitted now with wobble bolts and all fits well :) looking at spigot rings being made for £40 which is very annoying as they'll be 0.75mm thin so highly likely will snap but I refuse to pay £72 for some aluminium ones. So once I'm back off holiday I think swap the tyres from my sporting alloys and onto the car. Also fitted my new head unit and underseat sub. :D

Abarth wheels, with spigots and wobble bolts now on :) Will get some pictures up when I can.
Early xmas present for the car too, some eibach sportlines. Got them for a great price of £95 brand new on ebay germany.
Top mounts need doing again so I'm getting some uprated ones in the new year and getting them changed and the springs fitted at the same time.
Going to get the uprated powerflex gearbox mount fitted and the gearbox oil changed at the same time then that should do for now.
Unless I find a dry free weekend then all the speakers are being changed over for the ones I have in waiting and maybe get around to fitting the boost gauge.

Can't wait to see the wheels on, I think they'll be so nice on a GP.

Germany seems to be good for suspension parts for the GP, I have been looking at the H&R cup kit from a main site over there and will be around £300 delivered compared to like £400 here! Nice Job (y)

Here's a quick picture. Only an iPhone picture and it's very dull here in manchester too so it's not the best . The car needing a clean doesn't help either but anyway. Can't believe how small they look in this picture to for 17", same size as the standard sporting alloys? Maybe the lowering will help out with that. I think I need to get myself a badgeless grill to.

I don't think the alloys look small, looks good! Yeah once you're lowered and with a badgeless grill will be even nicer! Ever thought about Abarth front lights? Might just be the final touch :)

Ye I'm not too sure about the abarth fronts. Not sure if I like the way they look on the grey car. By all means someone can prove me wrong with an example though. The money for something that doesn't give much back puts me off to. I'd rather put it towards an exhaust system.

Newness to hopefully happen at weekend.
New mintex discs all round to be fitted, new top mounts as the drivers is creaking again along with fitting my eibach sportlines. Also should be fitting my gearbox mount, changing the gearbox oil and fitting my forge under body bars. Free mars bar that came with them went down well as 11'sies.
Looking into how big the pipe bore is on the Ragazzon and protoxide downpipes before I order one of them. If anyone has one and knows the size is please can you post it here. So far its looking like its either 2 and a half or 2 and a quarter inch bore size.
Pics should follow once the sportlines have been put on.

if the vectra/astra pipes fit you should be able to get this mate; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASTRA-MK5-EXHAUST-1-9-DIESEL-16V-CDTI-SCORPION-DE-CAT-DOWNPIPE-PRE-CAT-732GM-/230785933570

think you save a bit of cash (albeit £20 but every little helps) over the ragazzon unit but i'd give them a call before ordering to see if it will fit.

Found a unit for the Astra for £60 that I've ordered to try.
Got onto Ragazzon and there pipe is 2 and a quarter inch bore size and so is this one I've ordered.
I found a miltek one for the astra to that was 2 and a half inch bore and £20 cheaper than that scorpion on you linked to. But i didnt fancy trying one bigger as the ragazzon size is a tried, tested and proven working size.
If the £60 astra one fits and works then I'll put a link up to it.
Wont be until next weekend though as it is being delivered Monday.

If it's a different sound your going for with your diesel, you'd have to tank the Dpf out, or it'll just sound like it has diesel clatter still

Not fussed about the sound. It's only for the slight performance improvements.
If I wanted a nice exhaust sound id buy a petrol lol. I'm happy with the sound, it is a diesel at the end of the day. My music is normal in loud enough for me not to hear to haha. Plus having an under seat sub helps keep it loud lol

Has your decat pipe come yet?

Should be getting my silicone hoses tomorrow, got my OBD2 bluetooth connector today - really clever bit of kit for monitoring everything, using it with the torque pro app for android. If you dont already you should get one, the app cost me 3.99 and the dongle itself 8.50 and its small enough to sit in the OBD and the trim put back in so can monitor boost, check fault codes and so on. Looks like I do have a boost leak, peak 21psi but best it holds at is 17/18 psi.

I saw one on eBay for a £5 that I ordered over the weekend. I've got an iPhone but I've got an android tablet so gonna team it up with that. Mostly bought it in case I have problems to be able to diagnose but also to see if it matches the boost guage when that goes in.
Decat arrived today and hopefully get it in at weekend, weather is against me at the min though. Sub zero snowy weather doesn't help a road side part swapping session.
21 at peak sounds about right. I should be able to tell you what my car is running once my OBD plug in arrives on Wednesday.
