Hey all. Newbie here.
Just a look into a project that's underway at my work at the moment.
We had a nice minimal rust 128 sitting in the yard for quite a while.
We also had 2 Lancia twin cam engines. So..... We decided to drop one in.
It's in the making at the moment, but in there and running.
The car has been sitting for around 3 years, looks quite sad now, but is very straight and only minimal rust around the bottom of the windscreen.
We sorced 2 sets of Lancia wheels, as we want to keep it all Italian and in the same family.
This rim is dented, but just to give an idea.
I'll update as we go along.
Onto the trial fit and making up some engine mounts.
The lancia 1.6 TC engine and the 5 speed box made it a bit of a squeeze.
Minimal grinding on the gearbox end, no structural grinding of the chassis rails, but just enought for clearance.
Motor in with lower and top mounts made up to get it sitting where it needs to be.
At first we modified the lower 128 mount, but gave minimal clearance.
But we used this to keep the motor in place while doing all the measurments.
We now have the lancia lower rear mount, and a mix of Kia gear box mounts modified to keep it in.
More pics of the mounts when we get it back on the hoist.
The motor is back out being detailed, and some cleaning up in the engine bay. Also making some tidy mounts now that the dummy mounts have it sitting in the right place.
Wheels painted and some buffing. The paint is in fairly good condition.
It's a little ratty, but we decided to keep it that way.
More pics and updates soon!!! Next is the fun part!! Drive shafts etc!!
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
Benny
