Seicento FIAT Seicento Turbo!

Introduction

Hey people, I will write up about this car as soon as i find the spare time to! For now please enjoy the couple of pictures that i have (not the best quality). This car is also in the classifieds! (y) Not built by me by the way!
Best comment & help so far! Thanks for that! Going to pass that message on to a very mechanically minded Freind and get that all looked at. Will give him something to do ;) lol, mileage on the other hand is pretty stable, odd that I know lol!
Thanks for giving more history on the car! Would like to speak to the original owner (wardy) to be honest.

Hiya pal... Im an old owner of this car.. suprised its still running in the present economy... the fueling was awful!!

The car engine wise was fine... I bought it as a non runner as some idiot didnt ever fit a cold start valve on it (which was crutial to get it to start)... The car was off the road for months prior to me buying it and had been neglected in a field while the owner scratched his head as to what was up with it.

From memory, the mounts were made solid with some PU tiger seal, (not the best way to do it, however its a proved & tested method)...

The coolant from memory never leaked although todger may remember something i forgot.... im sure there was no problem there tho...

The mounts were craply made (as they were custom made prior to me getting it)... They are made from thin metal, although if its still running now, they should be fine...

It had an oil issue of some sort when i had it running... Nothing major so dont worry, but just on big boost, i used to get a really bad smell in the cabin... I know the breather is venting to air, but the smell was more than a breather, possibly could do with a good flush out of the oil, and checking breather pipes flow correctly. Its always good to keep the oil in a turbo engine spot on anyhow, so your not losing out on giving it a service.

You really need to change that naff filter on the air mass sensor thingy.... A new aftermarket filter will only set you back a few squiddlys... To be honest it needed changing when i had it, and its still the same one!!

The pipework looks better than when i had it, as it wasnt painted, and was left in stainless... looked like a horrid towel heater!! If it was me, remove all that crap, get a standard bumper and get yourself an uno turbo or an escort rs turbo intercooler (small).... then run the correct size boost pipes.... not the oversize junk thats on it... that will get rid of the nasty lag that car has... When its on boost its loads of fun, but getting there is crap...

Gearbox wise, you cant really thrash it, as from time to time it was very notchy... I was going to drop the oil and refill with some decent quality stuff... this might still need doing, although once again a cheap thing to do..

The only major problem with the car was the wiring side of the engine... just open that plastic box to the right of the engine.... its full of loose relays and bodged wires... I was going to overhall the complete car, but after spending like £5 in fuel to do approx 10 miles, i gave up with it...

Sort the gremlins out, and get rid of the naff pipework, and youl have a non laggy half decent little car..

Handling was fine for street use. On the thrash it was more than quick enough for these shells, but cornering has been lost if your definately not brave.

This car made a modified focus st look like a toy on the drag front of things.

Oh and It's extremely bad in terms of mph, £10 lasted all of 20miles once.

Thanks

X

Was super ****eeee on fuel to be honest!! I remember from yours to mine would cost me a tenner... and about 24/25 mile round trip lol....

It did annoy my mate in his standard focus st.. but it wasnt all over him like other cars ive had more recently.... This car, when i had it was the equiv of a tuned VTR/VTS... Unless you run it like a complete nob, flat shifting to keep out the laggy boost.. then its an animal...

Corners, it was ****e.... My c20xe seicento was much better around them... but thats because the xe is lighter than the iron mess of an U/T...

Still plenty of fun in a small car tho... just get used to it, as u need to adapt your driving quite a bit to make up for the faults..

Just to add... the mileage is not correct, and hasnt been for years!, the car doesnt have a speedo cable that works with the clocks lol...

Get yourself pov spec speedo that accepts a cable, and then run the cable to you gearbox... sorted, youl then have a speedo!... The wiring plugs will need adapting for your lights, but not a big job to pin2pin it all.

Have seen this cars for sale many times as well.. Didn't know anyone on here had owned it though..

Is a little of the top for my tastes - if it didn't have all that pipe woork hanging off the front it would look miles better.. If it were me I would be fitting a standard mk1 sporting bumper with long thin FMIC in it and hidden boost pipes..

And i can imagine, as i own 2 cento's (one NA & one turbo'd) and a punto gt (similar engine-ish to the UnoT) that it will seriously shift this thing.. Has anyone had it on a RR? I wonder what power it puts out comared to:
1. A standard UnoT
2. A 1.4 16v turbo (as per the likes of Craigs white cinq)
3. A turbo converted 8v 1108/1242 engine

EDIT: We really should organise a fast cento drag day at some point, i know they aren't really drag cars at all but would be interesting to see how they all compare in a simple drag race...

Physical routing for the pipework makes it pretty much impossible to put a long thin IC on. There is too much pipework there anyway, thats why it has so much turbo lag. I would be wanting to reduce the bore of the pipes and try and shorten the distance between turbo and throttlebody.

Thanks

only just read this, regarding the original fitting of the lump way back in sept/oct 2004. a lad did all fitting, i suppose i was slightly naive and inexperienced as i was no mechanic(still aint like but can use spanners nowadays), he didnt give me any info on anything what he'd done or left off, we ended up falling out like, re wired mainly engine side and slipped aload of gauges in about 6-8month after it first got put in, was all fine until turbo went. Thats when i bought another car and it took a back seat, noticed its had at least 5-6 owners since lol, still not got to 58k according to that pic.

hope that helps a little if you still own it, noticed it on gumtree this morning from a month back by look of it, brian or alan selling it from bromley?????

seems to have chenged for worse since i owned it looks wise and really needs some tlc.

feel free to ring if you still own her. 07557361120
