Punto (Mk2/2b) 6Speed's Black MK2 Sporting.

Introduction

Hey, new to the forum but have been browsing it since January, when I got my Punto. Was originally looking for a 306 but then this appeared outside my neighbours house for sale and fell in love with it. Been driving a 106 diesel for the last 2 years while at uni so this is a nice change.

Instantly began my work on it, stuck the 6x9's it came with in the bin and got my own audio installed, and by reading the forum the brand I have will be looked down upon but it does me nicely.

Anyway my names Jed, im from Wiltshire and this is my Punto...

And thats her.
PM sent.

I've raised the front now and it's made such a difference, it sits in the arch perfectly now. Tried doing the rear but did'nt have the right tools with me at the time so that will wait.

Also I measured the spacers that are on the rear wheels, they're 15mm so what i'm going to do is, put those on the front and the 20mm spacers that i've now got will go on the rear and thats when i'll drop the back down.

Just need to get my backbox looked at after that, then I can move onto the next thing. I dont actually need to do the brakes just yet so I might look into getting these Abarth skirts sorted.

nice car m8, any update(y)

Huh crazy, been months since I have updated this and I was posting earlier about it but just before I could actually post what I wrote, our rabbit chewed my ethernet cable for the PC, gotta make do with the laptop now.

But yeah, heres the copy and paste from what I typed out earlier...

Long time since ive posted anything in here but not much has changed really, if anything ive been pushed 2 steps back and now im just making up ground again.

As some of you may have seen, I had my back window smashed in last month on Friday the 13th, a week before moving into our new place so funds have been very limited.

My g/f's dad took the car away ready for repairs as it was due to go off the road insurance and tax wise. While he had it, the car got clamped by the DVLA even though we all thought it was parked on private land :bang:

In order to save the car from being scrapped I had to pay £260 :yuck:

The bad luck stops there thankfully, found a black boot on ebay for £40 delivered. Thats coming tomorrow so a busy day for me planned on Friday.

Just some minor touch ups to do after that and then back to the original plans. Going to get my Abarth sideskirts painted and fitted and the sporting spoiler re-done and fitted to the new boot aswell.

I suppose the best part is the car is back on the road and im no longer walking around in the rain :worship:

Cheers, yeah it was sorn'd but it was a while ago now, long forgotten.

Anyway, some updates.

Here is a pic of the car not long after the snow and just before I sold the alloys...
Side stripes all gone, re-furbed bonnet badge and wind deflectors.

The replacement boot I needed, £40 in total delivered! Bargain...

Took the badges off in less than 5 minutes, it was so much quicker compared to my previous boot and no glue left over. Finished off with the 'Sporting' badge put back on. I didnt grab a pic of the finished result though.

Also my spoiler was kept under the bed, the bed broke and now the spoiler looks like this....

Repairable?

Next, Sidelight needed replacing along with the centre console bulbs...

Looking much better, but the sidelights dont look as white in person, might look into better bulbs a bit later on though.

And the cubby area to the right of the driver has been carpeted as its where I bung my mobile and also the switch for my amp is fitted there nice and flush.

Its currently sitting on steels but im keeping an eye out for Sporting alloys so no pics as its not going to do the car justice right now :(

Currently im taking of the 'sticker panel' stuff on the side of the doors
Cleaning the engine bay
Replacing the bonnet cable ( it hasnt broken, just heard its a common fault )
New oil & filter
New air filter
New exhaust mounts
MOT on Friday

I sold on my Abarth sideskirts as I wanted to keep it "sporting oem" as possible but my plans havnt changed too much. I just want to finish all the little bits and bobs before the "idea" comes together.

Best update yet for me, picked up a set of Sporting alloys with 4 tyres all with about 5mm tread and barely any curbing and fiat locking wheel bolts with 2 keys, all for £100!!!

Gave them a quick clean and tomorrow its going lower (y)

Now im on the look out for a new spoiler.

 thats gotta be bargain of the year!

The seller almost sold them to someone else for £70 but he wondered why that guy was so eager to take them off his hands. He researched it and saw that they go for £150+

Im guessing the other guy couldnt stretch to £100 so the seller put the punto in general up as spares on ebay, a few emails later I only had to travel 20 miles to collect them. They were also balanced before being sold.

i had to travel a fair bit for mine and paid more but they had just be refurbed

Its been a while since this has been updated. Since then my car was broken into and I lost all interest in the car but was once again convinced otherwise, so off the road again to do some work.

Firstly, got a replacement boot with spoiler in black.
Tinted rear windows from the same seller, a bargain at £32 for the lot.
Factory looking speakers adapters.
New bonnet cable fitted.
Some nasty dents removed.
Door speaker adaptors
Sporting subwoofer which never came with my car but sounds great for my liking.
And a little teaser for whats currently in progress in the last picture.

More to come over the next few months and some pics so far...

Scratch before.

Car needs a really good clean aswell.

Heres the progress of the centre console,
What ive done is used some coloured folders and cut them to shape to replace the standard filters.

Looking ok so far.

With some clear perspex, I removed and copied the orange ones so the knobs will light up white.

181120115001.JPG

I also got hold of a universal blue ciggy lighter, unfortunatly its the only one I could finds and its a couple of mm too small to clip in place so ill be securing it on Tuesday properly.

A quick test...

1337.JPG

A dissapointing result, they look too green, so new bulbs are needed as the standard ones are too yellow. I picked up a set of ultra bright white bulbs to see how much of a difference it would make and heres the result of that,

1623.JPG

1718.JPG

It looks perfect, the knobs are white (apart from the middle one as I havent cut it long enough) but the lighting is not as bright as the camera is making out but it is as patchy, so I covered the backing of the bulb housing in foil to reflect the light around more and hopefully balance it out. I havnt tested that yet but heres the work done for it.

1522.JPG

And thats as far as ive got so far, I still need to cut a new perspex piece for the middle knob and the one for the choice of air circulation which is a really awkward shape.

Secure the cigarette lighter in place and connect a new bulb to it.

And finish off the custom icons im making to finish it off.

I hope you like

hey dude love the car just got a quick question how easy was it to remove the side skirts?
