Re: Seicento 1.2 16v with big plans!!

bargin, i got my cinq back for 2nd ownership for £150 - i must admit to being quite surprised when i offered what i knew the local scrapman would offer and he said yes, had to quickly find £150 lol.

I was lucky though, she was dirty but only had few little niggles, headlight, sticking handbrake etc. Managed to buy a car, tax it and mot it (including required parts) for just over £300 - clearly gonna be the cheapest car i ever get lol.

Re: Seicento 1.2 16v with big plans!!

Had a good look over the inside of the seicento today, got a sunroof leak but I can see the cause so that shall be dealt with, got most of interior stripped out come across this nice bunch of wiring

ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1390759148.502896.jpg

Even a cut out hole! Seems the interior paint has been blown over with some Matt black paint didn't get a picture but will show one on my next post!

Door cards at the front were loose but just the red clips that was at fault missing some so took some from the rear cards

Just looking for a garage atm for her don't like the cold and wet so I'm avoiding starting the repairs on front end till I can get a warm garage haha

Looks like Steve Wonder did that stereo install!
Good on you for buying it back and taking it on! :)

Re: Seicento 1.2 16v with big plans!!

Today's small update, a matter of weight saving!

From this to...

ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1392575637.425758.jpg

This!

Have slowly started chiseling off the solid black stuff on the floor, (that is the best way in which I can describe haha) and I'm keeping everybit of it so I can weight it all and get those important figures to you guys ;)

Dash is coming out tomorrow to get rid of all sound deadning

Also notice 2nd picture puddles in both foot wells! Thank you very much sun roof! That is now sorted changed new one over today

Stay tuned for updates tomorrow

Re: Seicento 1.2 16v with big plans!!

I thinkbits around 3kgs iirc from removing it from mine.. best way I found was to 'shock' the panel... I.e hit it with a dead blow hammer (I used the leather end or a copper/leather hammer) on a cold morning.. the stuff litterally shatters out and is soo much easier then scraping it out

Re: Seicento 1.2 16v with big plans!!

Small bit of progress today, dash came out

Got the kitchen chair in there missus will be happy I'm sure!

She'll be even happier when she comes home to this

All soundproof coming out from dash and now sits like this

ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1392643896.535893.jpg

Tomorrow hopefully dash back in and all the black plasticy stuff removed from floor so far only bit of passenger side and drivers left

In terms of weight there's quite a lump of wadding behind the dash id say at least 3-4kg didn't actually weigh it but roughly speaking

Cheers

And inside contained...

ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1393603931.883276.jpg

Plenty of things to keep me busy ;) full set of sport strong flex bushes

All apart from engine mounts as I already did them years ago when I did the engine conversion

Got the arb off and painted...

Ready for its bushes

Bottom arms are a pain cutting the bushes out is a long process, may end up burning them out, I'm guessing ball joints are just pressed in? Also the plate the goes on the bottom arm that connects the arb to it with the two bolts on, can you buy these new? Or is it a scrap yard job, snapped both threads on one side :(

Nah, you need to replace the whole arm, then burn the bushes out/off and replace with the poly ones. Just keep the heat away from the ball joints (wet rag, etc.)

Drill the bolts out, re-tap. Generally you need a decent penetrating oil and heat to have a chance of getting them off without snapping.

Bottom arms will be brought when I start my new job at euro car parts then, hopefully I can rely on some discount :D

Yeah I used some penetrating oil, I suppose I could always drill the bolts out and just use a nut and bolt through both?
