Punto (Mk2/2b) Munkul's thread

Introduction

well, i put a deposit down on a 52 plate Mk2 today, very happy!

its in very nice condition, standard, no signs of crash damage or owt, the only bits were a slight ding in the passenger side rear arch, and slightly kerbed alloys :)

well i think it will be an ongoing project, as long as its reliable enough!

the interior pic is quite rubbish, but the seats still look a little dirty  apparently a common problem....

i get to pick it up on saturday the 5th jan, it getting MOTed by dealer, etc

i cant wait
Cheers pal :)

Pic of head back on, no ancillaries yet (after this stage it took me over an hour with jordan helping just to fit the modified inlet manifold, the bottom bolts were almost impossible to get to)

turned over by hand twice, cranked a good while with no plugs in, to circulate everything, checked fluids again, and started up.

Well chuffed because i thought i'd forget something and i would get leaks or oil starvation or something, but as it happened it sounds sweeter than it ever has :top: only thing i did forget was to plug the TB back in, resulting in fault codes

Not out of the woods yet though - might have a vacuum leak on the manifold (which means im snookered). i can hear a hissing noise at idle and the revs take longer to return to normal after blipping the throttle.

Still loads to do to get it back on the road but at least its heading in the right direction again :)

which strut? strut brace? used 4 bolts mate :p

havent had time to do much this weekend on it :( all i have worked out is that its definitely leaking from the manifold.
lol yh sorry mate i ment strut brace:eek:. Yh just brought one but did come with the bolts :(

Hope ya get the engine sorted soon mate

Well, she runs, ive kept it quiet over the past few days. It was running and live "mapped" by me and a mate on thursday. Had it on the rollers friday night for a power run and a bit more fueling tweakage.

The build thread is here: http://forums.puntomk2.co.uk/showthread.php?t=23175

If it doesnt blow up, things will happen in this order:
- Air filter
- Better turbo oil return line
- breather lines sorted
- Fuel cut defender to stop the ecu papping (really need this because it randomly creates a lean mixture now and again without it)
- Mocal 13 row oil cooler (just to fit)
- full stainless turbo-back exhaust
- turn the boost up to 0.8bar

Cheers adrian :) it blew a HG after 400 miles which i put down to using non-genuine parts and head bolts stretching. Its done well over double that now since and its running pretty sweet at the moment (touch wood) and it gets a lot of stick.

I have a new thread called mk2 sporting turbo with new spec list and pictures, i thought it was time to let this thread go :p

The only real issue now is the map sensor problem (mainly because the Greddy FCD i bought off ebay has gone AWOL) but i can live with it. The only upgrades to the engine left to do, assuming it can take it, is change the exhaust for something more free-flowing, and up the boost a little - 150-160bhp would be nice - and I want her running at the top of her game for Straightliners in May :slayer:
