Today a took the MAF of and cleaned it.. there is a tiny orange "resistor" which looks like its in two halfes.. should it look like that or is it broken?

the resitor is marked by a red arrow and mine seemed to splitted in two.. (there is a grey marking that goes around the resistor)

I hope you understand what I'm talking about..

if thats broken in 2 i suggest you try to find another MAF to test on it, if not try disconnecting it and see what happens to performance.

I have tried to disconnect it and the performance is just the same as when it was connected! And that is very poor performance and a great lack of torque at the higher revs! It only reaches about 4000 rpm at 5:th gear..

if the performance doesnt change when its disconnected i would suggest you try to borrow another MAF to test it, i would be leaning towards it being the problem though myself.

I'll try to borrow one and try it..

If the MAF is faulty I think the injector light would be on the dash,
For your info you could get a replacement from a breakers (ask for a vectra diesel one, their the same and much more abundant than a 20v fiat one) I payd £40 or mine

I didnt check, my car was running like a pig, so I went to the breakers and gave them my MAF, they came back with the vectra one, I put it on the car and the warning light went out, the cars ran perfectly for the past 6 months.

Fair enough, could you when you have time have a look at your MAF and note down any markings etc on it, as plenty of vectras in the scrappy and not any 20v VIS's and could do with a spare one.
