driving along in Edinburgh last night(before the snow)and theres 2 lanes of traffic approaching a lights controlled roundabout with the right lane queing to turn right, custard is going straight so has a clear lane ,just before the roundabout is a junction on the left with a box junction and as i approach a car (huge volvo) pulls out in front of me and blocks the road!on the brakes and as im decelerating from 40(in a 40 zone) another big volvo cuts through the box junction and after seeing my cinq(its only broom yellow with the headlights on)brakes and i end up sandwiched between 2 volvos centimetres of each side of me, couldnt even get the bloody doors open.if i was going a bit faster i would have got totally sandwiched a abig volvo versus a cinq drivers door aint something i wanna try.just had to share:I

you mean the 'watch out for that falling piano' hand signal?

signified by making a fist, then straighting only the middle finger and pointing it upwards towards the falling piano :)

Small Volvo: That'd be the 480 - that oddly-stylish little Volvo coupe from the early 90's with pop-up headlights.
As for the variomatic gearbox, it's pretty similar to FIAT's CVT jobby...what I can't work our is why every manufacturer makes their CVT's select from 5 or 6 preset ratios - surely this defeats the object of a constantly-variable ratio? [xx(]

I used to have a 1973, M reg, Daff 33. Yellow, of course. I think it was the first car with CVT.
It was more like a hairdrier with infinite probability drive. Those of you that know The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy will know what I mean.
