city /button

Tell me about it.

Then get passengers poke it 'ohhh, what does city do?'.

They then get a jab back and are told to stop poking things :p

i allways

"get ohh what does city do"

"makes the steering lighter"

"what ya mean"

"it just makes it easier o turn the steering wheel"

"oh right"
then they press the button just to see :bang:

that is number 1 on my list of hates when people get in my car touching buttobs grrr:mad: lol

Yeah.

Had a friend light up the other day (think it was a genuine mistake as they all smoke in each others cars except mine).

ABS launched him almost though the windscreen at 60

He not lit up since :)

Quite frankly I would do the same.
No food in my car either, last time I had two people in the back with sandwiches from the local "texas chicken y0", one of them laughed and a cocktail of drink, saliva and chicken/bread came out of his mouth all on the back of my GT3 seats. I coulda hit him!

I would have made the bugga pay for it to be cleaned professionally (y)

Driving Instructor used to have it on permanently on his Mk2B Never had an issue im aware off

one of the lucky ones, search the forum for city button problems.

Leaving it on and a driving instructor - Isnt that a form of cheating? Aiding the steering in order to make it easier to park?

Surely you cant use it on the test.unless the examiner is as thick as a blond bird

PAS cant be switched off, and that is part and parcel standard fare now whereas the city button is an aid and can be turned off

Should we yank out the ABS fuse and reverse parking sensors aswell? They're all driver aids, no reason why they can't be used surly?

good point but isnt one of the marks for controle of the car? and with the city button that aids it into you favour. surly an examinor would ask you to turn it off.

but on the other hand you can pass your test in your own car. so if you had a car that was lowerd had legal racing slicks etc all in favour of controle then would you still be able to do a test in that?

Dont know the ins and outs and the rules but IMO when you have a button that makes the steering lighter, which was designed to make reversing/parking that bit easier, thats an artificial aid in control of car in my eyes.

Why doesnt every other learner car or car manufacturer have a city button then?

Also, (even though it probably isnt) could this be viewed as a disadvantage for someone who isnt learning in a fiat that has the city button permanantly on?

This is same for parking sensors as well

exactly. makes it unfair for those who don't use them aids on a test. be like doing a gcse exam with half the answer already there for one pupil but the other has to work out the sum and everything.

the car i passed my test in had power steering. for my first car i had a mk3 fezzy (no power steering) felt like a tank. so imagine going from using city all the time in lessons and test. then jumping into a car without power steering (which most young driver would get for first car due to insurance prices etc) and not much driving experience.
would be quite dangerous.
