Hey guys!
I have a serious problem, here. My girlfriend put some gas in my diesel car yesterday. Then she came home (about 5 miles). I haven't started my car yet, what should I do? Should I call a tow service and call my mechanic, or can I take my car there? If she managed to came home, is there a possibility that everything will be just fine and I don't need to bother with a mechanic?

All depends on how much was put in. If it was only a small amount, then I would go and fill the tank with diesel (to dilute the petrol). Keep filling it up every 20 miles or so and it should be fine.

:yeahthat:
Whatever... dont just ignore it, its REALLY important how much petrol was put into how much diesel....

Assuming she filled it up because it was low on fuel and maybe put £5 worth in... you may still be running on good diesel from the pipeline & fuel filter.

Judge the petrol v diesel quantities... might be best to drain the tank / fuel syste & put in diesel after a new fuel filter has been fitted...

Hope you are lucky & all is well...

But dont ignore it.

The same thing happened to my mum a few months ago... you should really drain the tank. That's what I did and I had no problems. And I also put a special misfuelling protection on so she won't make the same mistake again

good luck

ok, thanks guys! I drained the tank and it looks like I won't have any problems. What kind of misfuelling protection are you talking about? I guess I should really get one because I'm not too sure she won't make the same mistake again

glad to hear that the car's ok
well, there are several protections I found on the web which are perfect for people who don't think while tanking
