I'm surprised that wasn't at a British University. It's the kind of thing the Government would give a grant for. A couple of million ought to do it.

Then the Arts Councel could give them a grant to produce a play of the outcome.

I'm amazed that some people paid scientists to make that research.

feck that, .303 for me please.
I don't know if I'm a good enough shot for a bolt action, although a nice long WWI style bayonet at one end and a brass butt plate (oo-er Mrs.) at the other ought to do it if it gets up close and personal.

i was pretty nifty with the .22 version (no. 8?), shot for my squadron, but no recoil from .22. used to recoil from 5.56, and 12 gauge.

rate of fire from them is impressive for a bolt action, whilst still maintaining accuracy. also as you say, bayonet, and hefty stock/butt mean it's also usefull for close up. :slayer:

My late Father-in-law was in the 50th Northumbrian Division during WWII and being on the right of the line for a while had a fair amount of contact with US forces in Normandy. He always reckoned the Lee Enfield was better than the American Garand M1 rifle.....until he tried one.

Although he reckoned the Enfield was more accurate in a situation when you had time to lie down and aim well, he acknowledged that in real world conditions the Garand was just as accurate and had a much higher rate of fire. A section of his lads couldn't get anywhere near the number of rounds on a target the Yanks could.

But then our General Staff had never trusted our troops to not waste ammo.
Having said that, if you looked at US conscripts in Vietnam, they had a point.

Just reading:

"The Zombie Survival Guide"

and

"World War Z" (which is about the 10 year human-zombie war)

You're going to need a lot more than a weapon and a couple of boxes of ammo....

;)
