the more i learn about this country the more i feel like destroying it.

my step dad is getting paid £8000 (tax free) over the next 12 months as a bribe to make him go back to work. thats over £150 a week.

he's been on the sick for a few years, but now that he's been offered so much money he cant afford to stay on the sick.

so he's got himself a 16 hours per week job and gets paid all that bribe cash on top of his wages. but the bribe works because he has returned to work.

i guess £8k this year is cheaper for the state in the long run than another decade on the sick. but what happens if he goes back on the sick when the year is up?

i still think my solution is better. pay nothing, then they have to go to work to survive. obviously some people cant work and should be supported, but i'm willing to bet my right arm that more than half the people on long term sick leave are just taking advantage of a soft system.

i wouldnt care but its a soft system that i'm supporting with my wages, and i feel like i'm constantly punished for working hard and contributing to soceity. the lazy get rewarded and its killing my motivation, i can almost empathize with the lazy gits.

mine is called 'in work credit'

get it for a year as long as you are working over 16 hours a week, had to have been on income support for over a year to be eligible

there are several different organisations that you can claim with if you have been on the sick long term. he has at least 5 different organisations paying him, but they are all government funded.

i know one claim is with the jobcentre, and another is called 'right start'. there is also the easington action team for jobs (they also advised him of all the other things he can apply for). i remember another had "sick of been on the sick" on the top of the form (made me laugh). there are several others who's names i cant remember.

if you want further info on the things available to you i suggest you find a local 'action team for jobs' and get some free advice. many people will not realise what they are eligible for, you'll never know if you dont ask.

Dinner ;) He did go, but I must point out that that isn't normal in my household ;)

I am neither a snob (in reality) nor a scruff. I can be either for humour I suppose.

Yes, I imagine that because labour used to be a labour/union based party that TB often invites unemployed tramps to dinner ;)

I not heard of many employed tramps :p

I feel their CV tends not to be upto date, and even McDonalds probably has an underwear-goes-inside the trousers policy. Not that they enforce it strictly but I bet if you look it's on the books.
