Hi everyone
Question no. 1.
I'm looking for a tester for my Fiat. It's an Idea 1,4 16V 95 Bhp, from 2004. The tester I need should be able to read ABS, engine and Airbag faults. It should be able to reset the service information in the display. I also have an Airbag fault, which I think come from a broken battery. The battery i now replaced, but the fault message continues.
Any sugestions to an affordable and good testing system?

Question no. 2.
In Denmark whwre i come from, it's sometimes dificult to get spareparts for the Idea. But I've heard, that it shares spareparts with other models of Fiat. Is that true, and can you give some hints which models are the tecnical same?

Thank You

Hi and welcome to Fiat Forum.

For Diagnostics there is really only one choice, Multecuscan www.multiecuscan.net You will also need a ELM327 to USB interface and a No1 (green) adaptor lead for the ABS. Get a "modified for Multiecuscan interface. The really cheap (<€10) ones from China have issues. I've used these on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281166266540? Just interface £16
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152869266214? Interface and leads £30
This one looks OK, has just what you need and ships outside UK

You also need a laptop just about anything running Windows XP SP2 or newer will work OK
Try MES before you pay the €50 registration fee.

Many parts are common to different models. in the blue bar near the top of FF pages there isan ePER link, this is an online catalog so you can compare parts between you Idea and other Fiats. Don't know much about Idas so can't help further with that ( My Croma uses more Parts from the Opel Vectra than other Fiats)

MES (MultiEcuScan) works fine on a 2004 1.4 16v Idea, as I use it on my own car :D

You will need the Immobilser Code though if you plan to redo the alarm and indicator flashing.

Thak You all for your informations. I have bougt the cables at E-bay and will download the MES soon. Looking forward to what it can do for me and my car.:)
