Hi folks.

Apologies in advance if this sounds a bit stupid but what sort of connector does Fiat use for the rear speakers on the Mk2 Punto?

I've bought a second hand parcel shelf (complete with holes) and mounted some 6x9s on it. I'd like to try and hook these up to the existing rear speaker cables without cutting the connectors off. My thinking is if I sell the car i can plug the original speakers back in and put the original parcel shelf back.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Noel

You could probably buy an adaptor of some sort. Try Autoleads, dont know the website but try Google.

Probably easiest and best to chop them but leave about 2-3inches of cable still attached to the connector so when you come to sell it, you can just solder and tape the cable back together.

Another way would be to use new cable from the HU to the speakers, the standard cable is prolly crappy and you can pick maybe 10 metres of half decent thick cable up for cheaper than you think. :)

Or you could just ditch the 6x9's and get some decent fronts? :D Sorry, couldnt resist sneaking that comment in there!

Matt

Ok Matt - thanks for the reply. Time for an even more stupid question now then :p

The punto has separately wired wooofers and tweeters in the doors. Most of the reasonably priced (I'm on a budget here) 16.5cm speakers are composite speakers. How do I wire the separate woofer and tweeter cables into one speaker?

Cheers

Noel

maybe you could scotch lock into the leads before the connector. when you come to sell your car, unclip them and put some tape around the wire, theyll never know!! :)
