Broken ISO Pin

Hi,

I just bought a S reg Punto and replaced the standard stereo - as part of the install i had to buy a ISO to DIN aerial adapter.

I have recently returned my new stereo and swapped it for a "Sony CDXGT200" as I wanted an aux in for my ipod.

The new stereo still required a ISO to DIN adapter but when removing my previous stereo the pin on my ISO socket snapped off.

How easy is it to replace the ISO socket? Can i strip the wires and attach a new one? Any help would be appreciated - if you have pictures even better.

Thanks )

Re: Broken ISO Pin

So its the arial connector thats broke? Or the ISO connector (plugs that have the power and speaker wires)

Just a little If its the ISO connector, you can buy new ones from maplins or other places and solder them on. Not too sure about the arial connector, although id imagine something can be done - although i dont know why as the fiat arials plug straight into the stereo's from my experience

Re: Broken ISO Pin

Thanks for the quick reply.

It's the pin on the aerial socket that has broke and not the speaker/power connectors.

the adapter i bought is

I think its just a case of getting a connector from scrap yard and re attaching it but I'm not good with electronics.

Thanks

Re: Broken ISO Pin

If you are going to be doing that, you might as well buy a new DIN plug from the offset so you dont need a convertor

For example:
http://thebassbin.co.uk/shop/product...ts_id/998.html

Both my uno and cinquecento have had those arial connectors though as standard, and should plug direct into the headunit without the use of an adaptor (well with all sony ones ive tried, along with a couple of pioneer and panasonic ones).

Have you got a picture of your current connector?

Re: Broken ISO Pin

Hi,

Yeah i guess it makes sense to just install a DIN socket

I don't have a pic of my actual ISO socket but its the same as

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/3006.html

How difficult would it be to fit a DIN directly?

Nah shouldnt be too much work at all - should just need stripping and crimping
