grande punto switched ignition

i know it has been discussed alot but i was wondering if someone who has wired up their stereo using a switched ignition could post a picture of which wire they used so i can get a rough guess at where to look

thanks
Not got a piccie as it is dark. But I scotchlocked a cable to the positive wire on the cigarette lighter then run it up the centre console and up to the stereo.

Wow, Mine was not like that. I could just get my hand in and pop the 12v socket out. Sorry but i'm no help, lol. Can you find a switched live on the fan circuit or the ignition barrel?

oo helpfull thread, I've not wired mine into ignition yet lol!

Might do it tonight hehe :p

i have finally done it

this is a sort of guide

i removed the foam and removed the socket from the bottom of the 12v socket and checked the connections to find the 12v switched mine was a red and white wire

i put some clips on the wire to connect the 12v switched to a red wire i had lying round and clipped the other end to the red wire on the back of the H/U i fed the wire around the back through the gap at the bottom

i then put all the foam back in after making sure the wire worked correctly

the only thing it doesnt do is turn on when the key isnt in the ignition you have to put it to the first setting to turn it on

hope this helps

Scotch Locks are the tool of the devil.

Solder, Heat Shrink, and inline fuse are the way forward!

Just ordered some new speaker cable as I want to rerun everything from amp to crossover/ to speakers using matched cable. 12m of twisted OFC 10gauge :D

Sorry you will have to bear with me here as i only know the thickneses of cable by eye but Noooo. Im pretty sure that the speaker cable can potentially be too big if you are not puting enough power through it.
Also remember that if you have to trim it down to fit your connections then you are wasting your money. I would think the 14 gauge would suffice for front speakers especially considering that is a bit of a push to get into most spade/bullet connectors without coning.
Big wire does look better though
