hi people
i was on the motorway last weekend in my PG active sport 1.4 8v
i was doing 80MPH and the revs were at around 4000 but the car sounded lous and like it needed a 6th gear which the car doesnt have.
does anyone else feel the same and whats the max speed some of you have had out of your

GP Active Sport 1.4 8 Valve

Thanks

The 1.4 8v is quite a new engine. It might need a bit more work for the harmonic balance. I wouldn't worry too much. If it should desintegrate (which I doubt) Fiat will provide you with a new one.

Those revs are spot on. Top speed is only about 105mph, have easily got 100mph out of mine but was pulling 5000rpm so didnt stay at that for too long!!

As said in a previous post i doubt the engine has enough power to make a 6 gear effective as it prob wouldnt be able to pull with such a long gear.

fully integrated robotic engineered

or summut like that

For a minute I thought GPs were used for fire fighting or something in some countries.. silly me..

What mileage is on the car? It might loosen up a bit when it's run in.

I doubt that would make much of a difference, I've done 2500km on my GP and the revs are just like djabbey18's.

ive done about 6500 miles on the clock now so surely it should be broken in by now ??
i just dont want the bloody thing blowing up on me if im hitting 100MPH you see

do you recommend that my GP could cruise at 100 MPH or would this cause damage and wear things out quicke etc ??
only my brother in law as got a k reg ford fiesta Mk 3 1.3cc and his car will do 115 all day long and i thought well mines newer then that why is my reving so high ??

it's all to do with gearing mate... the fiesta st revs at 3,200rpm at 70mph... i would have thought this would have been alot lower tbh. i don't think your car will blow up, but it will wear things out quicker obviously. i would recommend changing the oil more regularly, but then again i wouldn't recommend driving at 100mph... :) HTH

cheers, david.

my 999cc fire engined uno had a top speed of 93mph but would do 105-110 all day so i wouldn't worry about the engine blowing up

:) for years i've been thinking weird things about kangaroos and boomerangs too:p

Man that's so stereotypical - we're not all about bouncing marsupials and aborigines throwing boomerangs around - you'll be surprised how multicultural it is over here :)

I have gp 1.4 and I have to say that I'm really dissapointed on it's motor. I drove with clio 1.2 last week and I think it went faster than GP, even a torque looks greater. shame...

I think you should be more worried about losing your licence than blowing up your engine. I won't preach that you shouldn't ever break 70mph but if you always cruise at 100+ one day you'll get caught out.

My 1.9 cruises quite happily at 105mph at 3800 rpm in 6th gear (though of course I would never allow it to do this illegal activity!!)
I would ordinarily sit at around 70, but when the road is nice and quiet at 6 in the morning, it is fun to put the old right foot down a bit. Nice and safe to do when it's a straight road, with no side roads for PC Plod to hide down.
