I know there have been other threads about "which alloys" etc. How about these that I had on my Stilo which I kept (traded it in with it's original 16's). I guess it's all a matter of taste but I think it looks more mean and sporty. It is, after all, the GP 130 Sporting. What do you guys think? (hope I've done this right !!).

Hi fellas, thanks for the positive responses so far. In reply to Shauncorwyn, they seemed to fit straight on ok but with a fraction more clearance around the hub centre where it sticks out for the bearing, probably just enough to stop it getting stuck on when you get a bit of corrosion. I was slightly worried by the fact that mine hasn't got all it's dust caps fitted over the bearing housings so I'll be taking that up with my friendly dealer, something you wouldn't be aware of unless you take your wheels off!
I know this has been discussed but I know there is no spare wheel on these but I was a bit surprised to find that there is not even a jack or a wrench to undo the wheels :( . I guess the logic is that you don't need them if you haven't got a spare wheel - a bit mean though!

Good point, my GP tryes were originally 205/45/17 not 40's. Obviously the tyres on the claw alloys are right for the rims and the difference between 205 and 215 is pretty small, by my calculation it's about 1 inch in 77 on the rolling circumference (old money), ie around one and a half percent. I can't see that this is a problem unless any of you guys think differently??

They were initially when the Sporting was introduced and then suddenly they withdrew them and put the multi spoke on the 1.4 to differentiate between the diesel.

loved the claw alloy infact i had just order a set from ebay.
by the way, how much it it cost you ?

I got my claw alloys as part of a special dea and had them on my Stilo. They were £600 (sterling) including the tyres whcih is pretty good considering the tyres would have been around £100 each anyway.

that's indeed a good deal
i got them off ebay at £250

guess how much it's cost in singapore
£700 for the rims itself

Good to hear from guys like you on the other side of the world. I tend to think all the guys on the board are Brits first but then European. Love SIngapore by the way!

their should only be water seals over the rear bearings as the fron bearing have their own seals they are cassete type bearings

Thanks for that littlepip17. I should have posted the answer to my own question because I consulted the dealer who, of course, told me the same thing. They'll be those wonderful "lubed for life" bearings ie when they dry out, they're dead !

well you shouldent worie about them drying up any time soon my dad has been working for fiat 25 years and the last time he replaced a front wheel bearing on a fiat it was a 128 and it had twin taper rolers on the front i beleive

wheel bearings is one of the fings fiat has realy got right but no one has realy noticed

by the way those wheels do loock cool on their but i'm not sure about fitment if the roling radius is diferent they will interupt the abs and speedo
if you want to keep those wheels i whould find a tyre sise that makes them the same roling radius
i believe michelin do a good sise and conversions chart on their web site

thanks again littlepip17, see earlier reply in this thread about tyre sizes. My dealer thinks there's no problem too. Shame Fiat didn't get everything as right as the wheel bearings :D
