Hi wonder if anyone can help, have recently changed the engine in my Punto (took about 3months) during this time the ECU and battery was disconnected. Have tried reconnecting all wires now I have EBD and ABS Failure warnings and the car symbol with the lock is on on the dash, the car will not turn over. Anyone had anything similar? Have tried charging the battery and checking earth connection all seems ok. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, so the lock icon is the immobilizer. the car will not start with that on .. BUT it should turn over.

And with the other errors, check the main wires from starter to the battery the starter solenoid wire to wherever that goes.
Check the connections again, did you do anything to the steering column? the ignition barrel?
check the engine bay fuse box, make sure thing are connected back up where they should be.

If all that is 100% OK, then try attaching a jump start cable from battery negative to the gearbox (earth cables are known to corrode on the GP).

Thanks for the reply have checked all connections and they seem ok, have removed the solenoid supply and turned the key with a meter attached but am not getting power to kick the solenoid in. Still have the immobiliser on. Struggling now. I think I need to check why I’m not getting power to the cable.
