Seriously considering getting a 1.9 M-jet.
Heard they have faults with gearbox (m32).
Has anyone experienced these, are they are a car to avoid?
What do you look out for when buying one?

They have there faults just like any other car, yes the gearbox on the 1.9 is a bit soft to say the least, watch out for any sort of whine in any gears at any speed, I knew mine would need done when I bought it but I got my car with a 6 month warranty, don't be put off by the gearbox though, if caught early enough they only have to replace the gbox bearings, other than this they are really good fun to drive, pretty fast, cheap to insure, and cheap to run and maintain
Also same story with the turbo, make sure it's not whining

Hope this helps

Cheers

I had the gearbox go but was just whining in 5th and 6 th and wasn't too expensive once that us out of the way it's hell of a car goes like stink once remapped and my turbo seems fine on around 80000 miles and remapped for about 30000 miles no problems

gearbox is just as strong as any other gear box. the fault starts to appear when people/previous owners have been trying to gain speed quickly whilst in the 6th gear. its made for cruising on motorways. so if you need speed use 5th and it'l be fine :D
