Went out to my pride and joy this morning turned the key attempted to fire but started to judder violently and engine management light came on. only done 30,000 miles any ideas. Thinking coilpacks or cambelt.

Hi there,
did it make any violent noises? banging "chapping" etc..?
eml on? code light on?

t-jets i have found to be pretty reliable so far.
they are terrible for the engine flooding though.
if this is the case, pull the spark plugs ou. if they are soaked in fuel then thats your problem. clean the plugs up. blow out the cylinders. then re fit the plugs and she should fire no problem.

fingers crossed its something easy for you.

No noises tries to fire, never had a problem in the three years i have owned her just regular service etc. Don't like to keep trying to start her up until I check the cambelt. I had an Alfa 146 which lost cambelt teeth one cold and frosty morning instant flashback and panic.

i would be tempted to whip the spark plugs out and see if there soaked in fuel. if so just burn it off and clean them up. turn the engine a few times to blow out the excess fuel in the cylinders. if your a bit scared about the cam belt, take out the top timing cover bolts and see if you can pull it back far enough to see the belt.
