Hey guys,
Looking to sort my audio unit out soon.

I went to halfords and bought a single din unit but they said i need XYZ cables changed and that it is going to be expensive.

I know i have the windows media player facility in my car that is voice activated, so maybe that's why they're saying it could be expensive.

Or they are just thieving f***ks that see an 18 year old boy and trying to multi sell me everything.

Help :)

Did they say which ones to change,....,

Never changed any of mine, just added a steering wheel control adapter inbetween the car and stereo harnesses,

Sounds like a fiddle to me..., dont let them do it,...

From experience my mates GF had hers fitted there and its never stored a radio station and all her electrics are permanently live, headlights etc......

You don’t need any cables to change over the Head Unit on the GP. My 06 was a straight ISO connector. Only thing that you do have to do however, is run an ignition live from somewhere (easiest place is cig plug – sounds like they never done that “Rake”).

If you wish to keep steering controls you will need the harness and patch lead. You have to make sure that your head unit is steering control enabled however.

(I have both fascia and steering control for sale in the classifieds)

Only thing connected to my cigarette live is for the amplifier in the boot.,

T'was my older brother that wired my head unit, he's a bit of a whizz with these things ...

Don't currently have it in as I'm running the stock unit for a while. But all I have to do is connect thi ISO connectors in the car to the Wheel Control Harness as that's still connected to the head unit and its good to go, 2 minutes tops.
