My passenger seat 'fold forward' cable has broken. This looks relatively easy to replace but I need to know whether to just unclip and peel back the cover or to involve the slightly hidden zip? Car is bog standard 2dr GP.

Drills and rivets are easy but zips can be very frustrating - can anyone be more specific about how to undo it? It looks like the flaps that cover the zip itself have been sealed over the zipper.

I've done it now - took about 2 hours with the seat out of the car. Zipper is locked and needs a screwdriver in handle. Only 1 rivet needed, for operating lever.

Hi all! I also need to change the mechanism due to cable fault. Being encouraged by the posts i have obtained the part and get to my car. But...

How do you remove the lever-handle thing? I can see no screws or clips but it is very tightly fitted. No luck so far. Would a good thug do the job? I will try to add photos if/when i do the job.

if your on about the handle on the top of the seat then when you lift it there is a small torx screw but it also held in behind the foam on the seat so would need to get the seat over off first .... took me ages to get the cover pushing the fiddly wire thing through all of the little hoops .

It's done!.. If one knows what to do and has proper tools which is a torx screwdriver preferably with a short handle, it's a half an hour job.

The plastic covers from both sides of the seat bottom has to come off or a bit loose to reveal where the ends of the wires are. Actually i could better and faster do the job if i were able to remove the plastic headrest-holding tubes from the seat. Then it would be possible to remove the backrest from the skeleton. Then it would be possible to remove the complete mechanism from the seat. I have done with a small tear on the sponge part of the seat which can not be seen with the cover on.
