Ok, as i reach about 40mph i get a noise coming from the rear right wheel/suspension. it sounds like i have a sporty exhaust fitted and fills the car.

If i turn right as speed the sound completely disappears as the weight comes off that wheel, and as i turn left, and more pressure is on it, it gets louder!

so its an exhaust / low vibration noise that gets worse the more weight is on it!

any advice?

I can't remember exactly, think the final bill was around £600. Might need correcting here but I think the bearing part is one piece with the wheel hub and other stuff.

Had mine done under 3rd year warranty.

Does yours have rear drums? If so, you remove wheel, and remove little cap in the centre of drum which is covering the hub nut, remove hub nut with 1/2" drive ratchet and probably something over handle to extend like a scaffolding pole or the likes, then once nut and washer removed, pride drum and should come off complete with hub

i have discs on the back, would that make much difference?

Jack rear of car up so both wheels are off the ground, and with handbrake off, rotate either side rear wheel by hand, see if one feels harder to turn than the other, or if you can feel a sort of grinding or roughness as it turns, if that doesn't show up anything then take your car for a good drive, and without using brakes too much, get out after say twenty mins and touch centre of both wheels at rear, if the bearing is worn it should be red hot and pass the heat into the wheel

No worries pal, if it saves you having to pay a garage it's worth it! I've been without my Punto two weeks now! Stuck with fiat dealer because they're meant to be replacing my passenger leather seat cos it's faded, yet when they got round to fitting the new leather coverings they don't fit!?! As fiat have made them the wrong size, so they don't even know when it's gonna be sorted, I'm so fed up! They've got my 194 bhp Punto and stuck me in a panda for weeks on end

hi
you should be able to do the job yourself ...wheel off ,caliper off ,hub nut, slide of hub ,slide new one on ,caliper ,and wheel on couple of presses on the brake ,and good to go ..can't remember off hand the torque of the hub nut ,would probably take longer to change spark plugs
