So I was looking for a quote to change my stock springs to the Eibach ones (50mm drop) and I've been told by a mechanic that it will wreck the offset of the car, and mess up all of my drive shaft and then my car will fall to pieces after about a month of driving it.

I've been reading Wiki but it all makes no sense and it's just plain pissin me off now lol

Can someone help?!

Offset is wheels. The lower it is the further out they sit in the arch. A 50m drop will not wear drive shafts significantly faster than standard. When you are running silly big drops then yes they will go faster as you are putting them under more stress as they arent operating within the tolerance that they were intended to. Ive been running my springs for nearly a year now and my car is still in 1 piece and i drive it hard.

Yeah yours is a lot quicker than mine too lol so with that theory yours would have worn out quicker than mine... unless they put a different drive shaft in the different cars?

Drive shafts are different in the Tjets iirc. Dampers will be fine. Eibach build the springs to work with the standard dampers so you will wear them out a bit quicker but again its not going to be that noticeable :)

really matt as answered your question but if it helps been running my 07 1.4 8v lowered on eibachs with 17" alloys since last jan and no probs at all, only thing i did was have tracking checked about 4wks after lowering(y)

Well sweet as long as people say it works then fine, I just didn't want to break something that cost me an arm and a leg to buy lol. Now I've just gotta find where to get the damn things done as the mentioned mechanic says he won't fit them lol.

just fit the springs
lol thanks. I'll try.:D
