Technical Paint code?

woah woah woah, ive allready fully researched what im going to do.

paint scratch untill its a small bump
sand with wet 2500
sand with wet 3000
polish with sonus sfx1
polish with sonus sfx2
polish with AG SRP
wax with colly x 2

thats what im doin.

i wouldnt touch my car with t cut, it doesnt break down like other polishes and leaves heavy marring.

Wrong on the Tcut. Tcut mettalic is fine. Go find the thread in the car care section about tcut metallic test that they did on detailing world.

then again it depends what your doing with it if your removing excess paint normal t-cut is fine providing you compound it back with something finer after you have finished

not wrong, Tcut metallic is fine yes, T cut is not. T-cut is what we were refering to.

i would agree with that statement if the car was younger than a 06, but as it is'nt, it should be fine, providing you polish afterwards to seal!:D

i used to be a valeter for my old boy, who had most of the car dealer contracts in moray!;)

but its your car pal, and as i've also got a car needing a little bit of paint work done, i'll be doing it my way!(y)

:bang:

t-cut is a polish

yeah but its a rougher polish, so you then should use a finer polish after to seal it!!

a finer polish doesn't contain any form of sealant

(then again i think we are getting our wires crossed as i was referring to compounding in my post above (y) )

most domestic/none trade car paintwork treatments are branded as a polish when really they are an all in one type product

this should help clear up any mis-understanding

There are three different types of Polish. A Pure Polish, a 'normal' Polish, and a Compound.

A pure polish, contains NO abrasives at all, only polishing oils, amongst other ingredients. Think of this almost as a moisturiser for your Paintwork.

A normal polish, contains mild abrasives and often fillers, a good example of this is Autoglym Super Resin Polish. It will fill/mask/remove light swirl marks and scratches, and create a high gloss finish.

A compound is an abrasive polish, used most commonly via Machine Polisher in stages of Paintwork Correction, to remove swirl marks, oxidisation and other defects.

It is not recommended to use a Compound more than once a year, although using a Polish, or Pure Polish will not harm your paintwork. Paintwork is measured in Microns, and a typical car is around 120-180 microns, Compounding will remove up to 2 microns, Polish or Pure Polish say 12 times a year, less than 1 micron.

I wouldn't apply any form of normal polish/wax for at least a month Beany until the paint has had chance to dry and harden (y)
