Got a letter today saying that there is a safety recall. Apparently there is a wire behind the heater controls/climate control that isn't clipped and has in some cases been exposed creating a short circuit and possible fire risk.

Anyone else had this.

Mine is an 07 plate sporting

you don't really have to wait for the letter.i called to 080011500800 and they informed me that the campain code is 5299. i sorted out the embrace clip and after 2 weeks no letter has come.you can go now but uoy must have the campain code witch is 5299.(y)

lucky i saw this mine is an 07 and i have the climate, will have to check the vin to see if its affected!

call 02085101232 tues and il check if yours is affected, takes 15mins as a job so doubt anyone would struggle to fit u in quick. if they say they cant its because its not worth a lot of money

really simple call me il check for ya of esigi need reg UK and or chassis

This has got to be the most useless recall announcement (not at you TroyO) - yeh tell people there could be a fire risk but don't tell them which VINs are affected.

Good one you stupid bureaucrats :rolleyes:

I think that would be an issue with Ateco Automotive then any government bureaucrat. I notice some other recalls on that page from other manufacturers do include VIN ranges.

Troy.

Maybe they're referring to all models sold in Australia? I book mine in for its first service soon. Apparently the sales guys have told me to sort out the loan car with them and not with the service department. I'm told to expect a day in a 500 :)

As my chassis number is in the range indicated i thought i would have a look myself. After taking out the center console i could see some wires against the edge of one of the dash brackets, i secured these out of the way and made sure there weren't and others rubbing anywhere. Saved yet another trip to the dealer i hope. I don't recommend you do it yourself i just wanted to check before we go to Ireland next week. Be careful the edges of the metal dash are razor sharp in places.

Then its up to that government department to force the company to disclose more information, information which is obviously available elsewhere such as http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/dyna/rapex/create_rapex.cfm?rx_id=196

Then that conflicts with the below as mine isn't within the range:

from 00114670 to 00322635;

from 01143872 to 01300776;

and three sole numbers 00032678, 00088713, 00098589.
