Hey...

As I type in the title, does any one know that there should be a shortshift to grande punto??

Morten

I have found that Bonalume got one for T-jet...

Says it will short 27 procent...

Does any one knows how to fit it... is it difficult??

Sorry guys and please ignore my ignorance but what is the point in a short shifter?

How good will it be with just a standard clutch and I cant see any power gains in this mod. Ideal if you are going racing but taking the car down the town to do a little shopping or even going for a drive through the country I don't see the benefits?

Regards
Stephen

I have one fitted to my integrale and impreza witch I don't race on tracks or rally , I prefer them than standard for two reasons it looks nice and the change is nicer and more precise

+1 I have a custom made one on my Alfa 155 and the difference is very much noticeable even in day to day driving.

For normal driving you could argue is not justifiable, but it adds more precision to a shift and as a result it reduces the time it takes to find a cog when on track or pressing on.

The clutch doesn't come into it if its mechanical, the clutch will simply transmit the power to the gearbox, or not if the power is too much or its worn etc.

A young chap i know bought a used gear lever.
Cut it down, and welded a bolt to it, for the gear knob.

keat63 I also did this once :D what I didn't realise at the time is that it only shortens the length of the gear stick, it doesn't affect the throw because the length below the pivot point is the same.

If anything I felt I had to work harder to change cogs with that mod. A short shifter is definitely a different result.

I need to find out if the 1.3 MJet uses the same linkage as the T-jet  I'm definitely sold on a short shifting solution. Does anybody know if the T-jet uses cable or rod linkage?
