Technical ipod

Hi,
I Fitted the original Fiat iPOD connection Kit to my 1.2 GP Dynamic, and it was quite easy once I worked out that you need Pins from Halfords to remove it.
My Kit cost me £85 in total and came from Italia (Italy) maybe I was robed I don't know but dealer wanted £350 to fit!!!!!!

Officially you cant navigate through the iPOD once its connected, but if you start the car get the ipod playing then disconnect it without switching of the radio and re-connect it then you can navigate through.

Fiat suggest you feed the cable down through the center console to the back of the cup holders in-front of the Shift Stick. Took me 5 minutes.

I think yours is the same and cheaper, so go for it, Its really easy to install, the plug only fits in one place anyway.

Hope this helps,

EDIT*** I JUST READ THE LISTING, IT SAYS

Please note - this interface is not compatible with 'factory fitted' Blaupunkt head-units. To check compatibilty with your head unit please see this compatibilty list. If you are unsure at all about the suitability of this item please email us at [email protected] with the model of your head unit and we will provide a rapid response. I would look at this one:

I'm wondering to buy this one from the first message.

But I have a question, when I plug this on the back of my GPunto original radio, how do I change in the radio to iPod? do I need to ability something in radio to use iPod?

Thanks

Thanks, great to know, just another question, this interface only works with iPod playlist or I can go though an Artist in iPod and select a single song to listen?

well the thing is about that is mine did this whole offical ipod fiat thing were you can only use the controls on the head unit and the ipod just kinda sits there with "fiat" on the screen..... but after going inside and coming back out to go to my gf's house it alowed me to select a song normuly with the ipod and has been that way ever since  wich is good (y)

Can anyone explain, in simple terms, the cheapest way to connect an ipod to a Grande Punto Active, (that doesnt have the blue and me thing) so that i can change the volume and skip songs via the steering wheel? Im totally confused! Is it even possible? Thanks!

Yes - buy the official Fiat iPod connection kit, as mentioned in the posts above. A cheaper option is to wire your own 3.5mm jack (see guides) but that won't let you skip tracks on the steering wheel.

Hi Catherine
You do not need blue&me to play IPOD mp3's
Fiat do an IPOD interface - the usb on the glove box will not work on early models or lower range models.
I have bought one of these from Fiat for my GP Sporting. - you should check with the dealer for your model before you buy though
Part number is - 50901536 Approx £70 when i got mine in 2006.
This then plugs into back of the radio and threads through to the small tray behind the ashtray. Then plugs in to an IPOD.
This will operate IPOD from the steering wheel controls or radio.
The setup is defaulted to run from playlists created with itunes.
Unfortunatly there is no holder for the IPOD with this kit.

This kit only works for IPODS -
hope this helps
regards
Shaun
