Alright everyone,

Just come across this forum today when I was browsing the web looking for people having similar problems to myself with their GP.....

Ive got a 1.2 Active, had it for about 3 months now and its done just over 2k, but more or less from day one its been making creaking noises from the rear passenger side... sounds like the suspension..

1st visit back to the dealer seemed to cure it..... for a week or so, then the noise came back

2nd visit to the dealer they said they couldnt find a fault, but that may have been due to the rain that day

3rd visit to the dealer, same old story, they said they couldnt find a fault but they greased the suspension....... this has done nothing as the creaking is as bad as ever :bang:

Im now at my wits end and really need to get this resolved, Id like to know if any members on here have experienced anything similar? or have any suggestions?

its intermittent, it happens sometimes over bumps, or going into left hand corners, more so if you go around the corner quickly

any ideas?

not a clue mate, i have the same car as you and never had that problem.

only creaking i get is under very light braking at very low speeds. but thats just a known fault with the brake pads. and tbh, doesnt really bother me.

I had the brake pad fault too, I got them changed for the revised version the other day and they feel and sound much better, Id recommend getting it done, plus it means youll get a few more miles wear out of them before you have to put your hand in your pocket to replace them

I think my only option now really is to write to Fiat themselves..

Its common for creaking from rear suspension from new on these cars (its not right I know but they do it) lubricating it helps for a while but customers report creak goes away after few hundred miles...there has been a few posts on this already.

I this problem but my dealer has fixed it. Mine was the rear seat, i know it sounds like its the rear suspenssion but its the back seat not being strong enough and casuing the car to flex and creek.
I'm not sure what they done but it was when they removed the back seat lubricated the joints i think and the problem has dissapeared and hasn't come back for over 2000 miles anyway.

It used to happen to me when going over uneven road surfaces, reversing off the drive, going over speed bumps etc.

mine creaks on the right hand side its the rear shelf side piece in my case agrevated as i have mounted a fire extinguisher using the holes the OEM Fiat Sub woofer bolts to... unclip the extinguisher it stops creaking

(im going to move it at some point)

it isnt the parcel shelf mounting clip and the rubber hinge pin by any chance is it? Take the shelf out and try it if it is try a smear of trim cleaner to lube it up...

i have the smae thing with mine i have just come to the conclusion that its not a problem cas it only happens over rough surfaces and bumps(y)

There is also a known problem with a loose clip/fitting on the drivers door lock. This lets the door move very slightly when going over ramps etc creating a creaking noise as the body flexes. 5 minute fix.

Thanks everyone ( and apologies for posting in the wrong forum  )

It seems to be getting worse the more I drive it rather than better, I'll have a look at the parcel shelf/rear seat etc later tonight, Ive also written to Fiat to see what they suggest... fingers crossed

Check that the rear seats are clipped properly into the latches that allow them to fold forward.

Tried the seat clips, tried folding them down, tried the parcel shelf etc, it still seems to be comming from the same place.

Fiat finally got back to me (after I chased up the email I sent them) and said their head office is looking into it and will resolve it for me in conjunction with the dealership.

Ive also written a letter to the dealership explaining that Im unhappy and expect the matter resolving fully.

So Im now just waiting (again) on a phonecall to tell me what they are going to do next.

fingers crossed, and Ill post more info when I have it, heres looking forward to some trouble free motoring in my GP anyway.

Well the cars gone back in again today (4th time!)

I took a senior tech out for a run in it when I dropped it off because previously theyve been unable to make it squeek (how I dont know, because its really apparent) so at least they know what they should be fixing although he said hed never heard anything like it before, however he did say hed had a few back with odd noises, one being 20 ciggies left behind a panel...

with a bit of luck they might even fix my wonky glove box too (y)

if anyone has any trouble with Fiat or dealerships I found writing a letter quoting The Consumer Goods Act 1994 makes them get their arses into gear.

I don't like any dealer, maybe it's because they charge me a fortune to do a job that i could do myself to a better standard

Anyway i had a creaking comming from the rear (ooo err:eek:) that only started after i had the rear seats folded down, a bit of silicone spray on the laches and hinges cured my problem

Did your creaking occur when the back seat was folded down? or did it only happen when the seat has been down and then been put back up?

The reason I ask is that Ive tried folding the seats down and going for a drive and the creaking was exactly the same

I asked the tech this morning if he thought it had anything to do with the seats and he said no........ suppose that means nothing until hes looked at it properly though

TBO there was so much stuff in the car when the seats were down there was lots of noise,

but i noticed it when the seats had been folded back into there normal position after being folded down. I think it was the bottom pivots on the seat back but I sprayed all the potential friction points and it cured my problem.

Well theyve had my car for 3 days now, just had a call to say it will be ready by about 5 tonight, I might finally find out what was wrong with it! :D
