but i want to know what marsons and platts are like for service and how are they like to haggle with and how easy is it to come to a deal with them??

any help with be grate

Rich on here (another one) had a lot of problems with used cars from them (marsons) and lots of arguments as a result none of which were particularly succesful. Although how much of this was due to his standards of perfectionism and attitude and how much was actually bad service from marsons is another matter.

ive always been told to steer clear of marsons due to problems mum and dad had a few years ago. i have never used them so personally i cant comment. Plats on the toher hand i have heard some good reviews from

thanks for the replays about marsosns and platts!!! yhyh i have had deallings with platts in the past when i pased my test i was going to buy a stilo (i was young and excited) i put £100 deposit down on it and my cousion is in the car business and he said it was a pooh car so i lost my despoit and yh platts are ******s

and no i dont think my mind will change! my mind is stuck on a grande punto

Ive never bought a car from platts but have had a number of spares from them and have been envolved with them through work in the past.

They seem like a good dealership to me. Tones of cars in stock so they may have a grande ready for you to drive away in. Also, plenty of alfa stock too which may tempt you to the dark side :p

From my dealings, always been polite and useful. Can't fault them, but as I say, ive never bought a car from them.

As for you losing your deposit, I wouldnt expect otherwise. You put a deposit down and cancelled the order, hence, you lost the deposit. Nothing wrong with the Stilo anyway. Maybe you should make your own judgements rather than listening to your cousin next time.

As i live in stoke I have used both B.S.Marsons and Platt recently, for parts which had to bee ordered in as these were not kept in stock they were told that all parts were needed to get my car through MOT last week PLATTS no probs parts almost straight away, Marsons told me will take 2 days, as mentioned b4 these parts were for my MOT Retest Friday, Parts were ordered on Monday arrived Wednesday morning, a few more parts were then ordered while I was there Wednesday collecting the parts that had previosly ordered.

I was told would take 2 days to arrived, to which I asked "would this be Friday, if so what time as my car is booked for retest in the afternoon", the sales mans name which i wont mention replied "we have a early delivery friday 8:30am", so I placed and order with them for my remain parts, I was told to give them a call @8:30 which I did, only to be told my parts had not arrived, when i asked what time is the next delivery they said that was the only one, so I contacted PLATTS who said they had my bits in stock, so rushed straight there to pick them up (last ones), after which I rang Marsons to cancel my order only to be told that my parts had "arrived" (surposedly).

So those parts are now sitting at marsons waiting for a new home.

As you mention bartering I always ask for 10% at both PLATTS and Marsons, which I always get. :D

My preference is with platts everytime.

Also bought a used Brava at platts a few years back now, I managed to get a discount off the brava plus extra for my astra, free bar mats and a few other little things and if I remember correctly I also got half a tank of fuel thrown in too.

Marsons have always seemed good to me. There was one time that it took them four attempts to get the correct clip for my handbrake cables, but we traced this to a fault in the Fiat parts listing database. The clips used on my 55s are actually 1.7TD / GT clips.

On the plus side, that means that I have the right clips when I finally get round to the rear brake disc conversion.
