Introduction
Thought it was about time I started a thread about my seicento.
Its a 2001 Abarth MPI
Bought it at the end of April this year on a bit of an impulse! Had been looking for a runaround for a few weeks and then saw this at a local car lot with plenty of oil leaks, small dent on drivers door, wing and rear quarter, a years test and 70k, took it for a test run and the rest is history as they say!
It had had new brakes all round for its MOT in February and all it really needed was a tyre for a matching set of sonars.
She needed a good wash-both in and out and a polish and then looked loads better-apart from the bonnet which had been resprayed in the wrong yellow!
After a bit of a search on here and the use of the guides and common sense I sorted a few problems and added /removed a few bits!!
First I sorted the oil leaks from the rocker/cam cover and camshaft o-ring and covered the rotten sump in sealant as a temporary repair!
Then came the temperature gauge and adaptor from ebay and a larger air inlet from the front bumper to the filter housing
Had a play with the bonnet badge colours and de-wipered the rear, removed the badges that where faded and falling off and added the FiatForum stickers and an Abarth badge over a large paint chip!!
Finally sorted my juddery and almost seized drivers side wiper by removing it and going for a single wiper conversion which works far better than I expected! Took a couple of attempts to get the linkage the right length and also shortened a punto arm down to size as the springs far stronger and holds the blade down better(standard sei one fitted in pic)
Also changed the front fogs for some I had in the shed as the originals where full of a salty,slimy,muddy mess.
Would like to put on a new drivers door and wing and get a bonnet that's the right colour yellow!
I'm sure there will be some more to come as funds(and the wife!!!) allow!
