Re: Any good PC Games?

That's all safe space But yeah, I suggest stay where you are and keep doing the agent missions until you've at least got a Destroyer and are happy you know what you're doing (roughly!).

Re: Any good PC Games?

Well I succumbed and downloaded and installed Eve today - thanks for the 21 day trial @Eklipze3k

It seems I too went down the Gallente route and now in the Centre for Advanced Studies - in game name is 'Stu DemonD'

Just messing with GFX settings at the mo, still need to run the tutorial - and find out exactly what I need to do, so much going on - but I really need to do some work today

At this rate I might need to train leadership skills and start an FF Corp, lol.

Re: Any good PC Games?

Indeed - how about I split out all the Eve related chat in this thread into another one [there was one started a few months back by another member].

Will make it easier if all in one place.

Re: Any good PC Games?

So I take it you can add friends in game? It is all too much to take in right now, not helped by a hangover that is easing

I will confirm my position later on - but it definitely begins with the letter C

Re: EVE Online!

Yep - "People and Places" button on the left, type a name into the Search box, once it's located them right click and Add Contact. You can adjust your personal standings (which basically allows you to add contacts for people who've killed you at a poor standing, so that you know to kick their ass next time you see them!). Sending a notification will let the other person know that you've added them, and allows them to add you in return.

As I said to Russ and Sam, crack on with the training missions, once you're done with that you should have very nice selection of ships, you should also get a request from the Sisters of EVE to go on what's known as an 'Epic Mission Arc', basically it's a long string of missions with an underlying story - get's you plenty of ISK and good standing with the Sister's which is very useful.

I suspect you're going to be in Clellinon or Clacille immsmc.

Re: EVE Online!

Stu - there is so much to take in but you will soon realise it is probably one of the only games that can be played however you want. The tutorial is useful but not the best ever...eklipze helped me a lot

The tutorial has changed since you played Sam, supposed to be a lot easier to get the hang of now

Re: EVE Online!

tutorials are pretty good now i would say, just some of the agents missons are a bit encrypted and working out what they want you to do exactly is confusing.

Re: EVE Online!

Well I have now done the first training missions - I am now at the stage where I can pick various agents to get a feel for where I go next...

I will play again this evening, too dangerous in the daytime I am also deciding what skills to go for, especially when offline.

... In any case, at what stage can we form a FiatForum group or clan or whatever it is they call it!

Re: EVE Online!

Thinking about it, I don't really think there are enough of us to make it worthwhile tbh. However, I'm already in quite a good social corp with a focus on mining, missions, incursions and there are pretty much always people online. I'd recommend once you've familiarised yourself with the various things you can do, and are happy that you've got an idea of what career path you'd like to focus on have a look for a corp that suits that style, or if you're not sure apply to join Scarlet Industries and we'll be happy to have you on board

From what I've read though, as boring as it can be at times, mining is a great way to get started as it's not only a good money maker but when doing fleet ops gives you a great sense of teamwork and accomplishment. It also seems to be what most of the better top-tier players start out doing as it also gives you a great feel for defensive systems, and what offense is the best counter for certain types of attacks.

For now, I'd say though just to crack on with agent missions of various types for the next few days, hopefully you'll get asked to do the Sisters of EVE epic arc which is brilliant.

I can't really answer the skills question, when I was new I just chucked stuff in my queue without really thinking about it lol. Jack of all trades, master of none
