Really hoping we don't need this but yeah, it would be good if it's there

It's certainly an option. Can you post it in this please http://www.fiat-scotland.com/fiat/upload/showthread.php/13876-What-colour-should-the-site-car-be Ta

And in other news, difficult Tuesday was made more awkward by the fact we couldn't find anywhere that delivers pizza to Westhill. I've just been informed Snappy Tomato Pizza are based in the next town along and do indeed deliver to Westhill. Damn!

We're back in Westhill and tonight we have Original FM on in the background. Currently playing is Madness - Driving in my car. I suspect someone's trying to tell us something...

Stubborn bolt is finally out. Hack-sawing the **** out of the head got it out 30 minutes ago

Springs and shocks next

Spring reassembly

18:40 Spring is on at last :D If only we'd been at this stage on Tuesday

18:51

We has rear O/S suspension again

Suspension_016.jpg

Wheel is also back on and Andrew is working hard on getting the replacement exhaust on

Rear_end_007.jpg

19:05 Front is now getting jacked up for the exhaust.

The bad news is we still don't have a handbrake. The good news is we have decent wheel bearings

I had hoped someone else would have posted an update but they haven't so I'm afraid you're stuck with me and my not-fully-informed version of events.

Replacement exhaust isn't on thanks to something I've no idea about as I was busy posting and not listening to the conversation going on over by the car. The good news is the car now has decent rear suspension and has been moved from it's temporary home to its slightly longer-term temporary home

If we can get any knowledgeable bods from here to Bucksburn, Aberdeen tomorrow afternoon we hope to get the exhaust sorted. So... anyone available?

ETA: Finally had a shot of it tonight and it's much fun but we need to raise the front so you don't dint it off of every little bump in the road

ETA2: A huge thanks to Ransoman for all the work he's put into this as without him this project would have stalled as soon as we got the car up the road. It's his time and effort that has really made this a reality rather than a wild idea from site admin and because of that he's our honorary premium member

Yeah...just jumped back on the laptop.

So, the car is mobile agian. Loud - but mobile. And what a difference to have fully operational rear suspension. Longer term we need to replace this with something slightly nearer the ground, but we have a cunning plan :D

Hopefully get a wee bit more done tomorrow :)

id definatly look into some propper little clips for the rear brake lines aswell, i see there ziptied at the minuite. and would hate to see them moving and getting abraided and leaking. more money wasted when we can save that now.

probably something from a scrappy as ther just flat blade shape things.

if i was closer id help but a good 200 mile is in the way lol.

your just as cheap to spary the car and will last longer than plasti dip IF you dont use the real plasti dip as the fake stuff is **** the pigmentations is crap

It's Saturday and we're at the site car's new temporary home to replace the exhaust. Today's mechanic is lewisp unably assisted by Martyn and Mike who are ****ing about in his seicento instead of handing over spanners. Can't say I'm surprised really but I am impressed at Martyn's parking. Really wish I'd gotten a photo of that one.

Gotta be quick posting this as Lewis and Martyn are on their way back from autosave. Cosmetically the car is destickered and mechanically the exhaust is off. Here's a few pictures

Destickered

Car is stupidly high at the back :D

Health & safety is very important to FS ;)

More later

Another update on this. Sorry there wasn't one throughout the meet but there's no wifi where the site car is currently stored. It's basically a car park and that is why my car has added yet another role to it's repertoire of various uses. Today it doubled up as a desk for me. Previous post was me quickly nipping into the office while the lads were getting bits from Autosave

My_desk.jpg

On to the more important things. Once we got the exhaust pipe off we discovered someone had used a scaffolding pipe as a sleeve

Scaffolding_pole.jpg

Oh and the welding was pretty **** too

Nice_welding.jpg

As ever things were not straight forward with this car and we discovered the front of the exhaust was 1/8" narrower than the rear section. Lewis tried to widen the section and at one point was straddling it yelling for all to hear "I'm riding the exhaust!" I'm just hoping the cctv really is broken as I was told

After that we had the Chuckle Brothers trying to get the damn thing to fit together. It's just as well I'm a laid back easy-going type person or there might have been a fatality over the over-use of "to you" "to me". I can confirm both Lewis and Martyn were alive and well when I left them however and if anything befalls either of them later it wasn't me honest guv ;)

I'm afraid to say we couldn't get the exhaust to fit and had to give up as it was getting late. We did a few more minor changes and I'm interested to see if you can tell me what they were. Post your answers below please

Spot_the_difference.jpg

And finally even though it didn't have an exhaust the car had a good wee run round the car park with an extra addition

FS_health_and_safety_in_action.jpg

Don't try that at home kids :D

The car is back under it's tarpaulin and there will be nothing else happening to it until next weekend when we plan to do a major fix-it meet. We really need all the help we can get with this so if anyone is in the area please come along even if it's just for an hour or so. All help is gratefully accepted

We discovered when we compared the project car to Lewis's std one, that the spring on the back of the project that we fitted have one extra coil in the spring, making them bigger, therefore the arse higher. We are not too worried though, as we will, in time, be lowering it again, this time properly. This was more a quick fix to make it road worthy...
