A quick question for you guys....

ive had my battery and alternator checked, and the alternator is weak and putting out a few volts less than it should, and keeps getting weaker over time. However my heavy duty battery is still fine and in perfect nick.

could this be the reason for my cars changing performance? its a lot quicker and more responsive if i don't have the lights on or stereo on etc, and feels a bit sluggish and harder to get it to pick up when they are on. could the extra current drawn from my battery when they are on be cutting the power to the rest of the car and engine components?

Where can you get refuted alternators from? I have 1 spare but unsure if it'll be any difference to my original one.it has covered approx 140k :/

wigan alternators test them and recon them, you will feel the difference mate, mine was like another car

nice one mate will have to get it sorted when i can. I've looked on ebay and theres loads of alternators varying from £80 up to £240!!!

any ideas on make or anything? i drive a 1.8 1998.
