Ok, so my back box came away from the middle section on the way home from work today. Thought it sounded a bit rough as I set off but it seems to have gone from "I think it's blowing a bit" to "my exhaust is scraping along the bloody road" within about 5 miles! I think the aggresive speed bumps in our work car park may be to blame.

Can anyone give me an idea on how much I should be looking to pay for a new back box fitted? Unless it can be welded back on, can't tell in the dark!

Thanks in advance

Dom

Probably keep it standard, gonna be selling it within the next month or so to get me a HGT! Why is it that these things always come up when you're looking to sell, was a new windsreen 2 weeks ago!!!

It's called the law of sod... that's why things like this happen.....

Have a look in the daylight, and see how badly the pipe is damaged, and where exactly it's come away from.

When you lift the two bits back together, see how well they fit.... if fairly good, then getting it welded is the best option.

Otherwise it's the pricey option of a new box.

I know, it's a swine! How much is the 'pricey' option. I had to get under the car in the bloody rain and detach it from it's bracket or else it would've caught the ground and ripped off I think. It's now in my boot, i'll get it inside after my tea!

well you could pick up a backbox from the scrappies for 15-20 quid, i suppose u wont really be bothered if its a bit old as ur selling soon, and then it will prob cost you anywhere between 10 and 30 for fitting i would have thought!

Ok, heres the damage, any advice is much appreciated, need to make a decision on what to do by 2moz!

I've been told the ubit doesn't come as just a back box, apparently the middle section is attached? Anyone know if this is right??

Most, if not all bravo/a exhausts are one piece from the cat back.

Looking at the pipe in your pics, it looks possible it can be welded back together.. needs a good clean up beforehand though... I've welded worse to be honest...

Oh well, I'm now £100 worse off!! Got a new one this morning as needed it sorting pronto. I'm unsure if it's the right one the as the back box is an oval shape and not 'squared off' like the old one was. Will this make any difference?
